s a man of the sea, Lionel
has had the good fortune to go many places and meet many people. As the story
of Lionel MacLaren unwinds, his path intertwines with many famous and less
famous personalities who are part of late 13th and early 14th century history.
Lionel's place in history may be imaginary, but the place in history of the
cast of characters listed below is quite real.
rom great explorers such as Marco Polo and great Kings such as Robert the Bruce,
to more obscure figures like a cathedral builder in Florence named Arnolfo di Cambio,
I've done my best to give the life of Lionel a small sense of plausibility, or at least a
sense of "well, it could have happened that way". Now only a list of names with
some small detail as to who and when they were, this page will eventually provide links
for those who wish to learn more about the people and places contemporary to Lionel
MacLaren of Oldenfeld.
