The Lightning played their first season in the 10,400 seat Expo Hall, before moving to the 28,000 seat ThunderDome (now Tropicana Field).  After three seasons at the dome, the Lightning moved into their permanent home, the 19,500+ seat Ice Palace.  

The Ice Palace was built in 1996 for approximately $165 million, but has undergone extensive remodeling since. 

In September of 2002, the Lightning reached an agreement with the St. Petersburg Times to rename the Ice Palace the St. Pete Times Forum.  Like the ThunderDome, the St. Pete Times Forum will always be known as the Ice Palace to most Lightning fans.
