God's Version of DSL ... "Always On"

Mind if I vent?

I have a friend that calls me almost every morning.

I like her, but the girl has no listening skills.

As soon as I pick up the phone, she starts talking and when she gets through -- why, that's it.

She hangs up before I can say much of anything.

Oh, and if we don't get to talk in the morning, she won't speak to me the rest of the day.

I can try to call her, but she doesn't answer.

If I want to talk, I have to wait until the next morning's "chat", if you can call it that.

I bet you think my friend's rude, huh?

Well, guess what?

I made her up.  She doesn't exist, not exactly.

I wanted you to meet her because that's the way I used to pray.

Every morning I'd have what I liked to call my "quiet time" with the Lord.

Only, it wasn't so quiet.

I rambled the entire time like my imaginary friend.

When I got through, I hung up the phone and got on with my day.

But, then I learned that the Lord wanted more than a scheduled "quiet time" with me.

He wanted a quiet and peaceable life for me, born out of continual fellowship with Him.

It's an attitude of having your face turned towards the Father throughout the day -- leaving the line open at all times.

Think of it as God's version of DSL ... always on.

It's where you'll find the intimacy with God that our human spirits hunger for.

Try it, you'll like it.
