Duff

(1)David Duff was born about 1835 in Ontario. In the 1861 census he appears in Fredericksberg Township, Lennox and Addington County, Ontario, Canada with his wife and three children: Robert, Mary M., and William D..  He appears in the 1871 and 1881 census' for Chatham, Ontario, Canada and he was a laborer, a Canadian Presbyterian, and of Scottish origin according to the 1871 census.  He married Charlotte Tompkins who was born abt. 1837 in New Brunswick, Canada.  David Duff died on November 17, 1897 in Rives, Jackson County, Michigan.  Charlotte Tompkins Duff died after 1917, probably in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan.   They had a total of 11 children:

   (2)Robert Duff born in 1857 in Napanee, Ontario, Canada.  He married Mary Carson on May 21, 1878   in Chatham, Ontario, Canada.  They had at least one child, Hannah Duff, born about 1880.

   (2)Mary Duff born in 1858 in Napanee, Ontario, Canada.  She married William Wright on July 23,1898 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada.

   (2)David William Duff was born on November 07, 1861 in Napanee, Ontario, Canada and died on March 29, 1934 in River Rouge, Michigan.  He married Nellie Ellen Burke on August 05, 1881 in London, Ontario, Canada. They had 11 children: Harry, Pansy, Grace, Orville, Norman, Noble, Edna, James, Floyd, and Lourine.  (If you are researching this line, contact Beverly at bcoltman@bmts.com for more information.)

    (2)Catherine Duff was born Abt. 1867 in Canada.

    (2)James Duff was born Abt. 1871 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada.  He died August 23, 1890 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada.

    (2)George Duff was born August 1871 in Canada and died March 23, 1909 in Jackson County, Michigan.  He married Myrtie Mae Hills on November 03, 1893 in Jackson, Michigan.  The had one child, Dencie Mae Duff born July 14, 1897 in Jackson, Michigan.

    (2)Tecumseh Duff was born about 1874 in Canada.  He was the twin brother of Frances Duff. Tecumseh became a US citizen on October 18, 1902 in Jackson County, Michigan.    Jonathan Trumbull and Charles S. Sweet, both of Rives, Jackson, vouched for him.

    (2)Frances Duff was born about 1874 in Canada.  He was the twin brother of Tecumseh Duff.

    (2)William Duff was born October 07, 1879 and died May 24, 1908.  He may have served in the Spanish American War.  He married Margaret (Maggie) ______.  They had one daughter, Charlotte Duff. 

    (2)Anna Duff was born on December 20, 1878 in Chatham, Ontario Canada and died on November 28, 1958 in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan.  She was the twin sister of  Charles Duff.   She may have married several times.  She was married to  Frank Butler at the time of her death.  She is buried at Hillscrest Cemetery, Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan

    (2)Charles Duff was born in 1881.  He was the twin brother of Anna Duff.
