Brown Pelican ~ Pelecanus occidentalis ~ The Brown Pelican is famous for it's huge bill. They are medium sized salt water birds with webbed feet. They are about 50 inches long and have a wingspan of 6.5 feet. To catch fish, which is their staple food, they dive headfirst into the water and catch fish in the pouch under their bill.
The Brown Pelican lives in the mangrove habitat.
