"Ya Ya" Twist

Hello, I am "contracheck"

{The term "contracheck" is the name of a measure in Tango and/or in Waltz}

I come from a dancing family in Germany and have by-birth inherited dance genes from both parents who loved ballroom dancing and wowed crowds in their dancing days. My very own first time on the dancefloor was at a young age with Papa learning Walz steps. Entirely 2nd nature to me, I was "walzing" in no time and before long achieved competence in most ballroom dances. Papa, a passionate dance aficionado and true "Tango-Natural" had diligently drilled it all and proudly showed off the "little one" dancing at local dance clubs and dance outings.

When the Twist had become t-h-e latest dance craze "from America" and enjoyed great popularity on Germany's dancefloors, my star hour arrived one Sunday when I - at a rather tender age - honored the "American Fashion Dance" at a local youth dance hangout by "twisting" 48 minutes non-stop to a tune called "Ya Ya Twist" by Lee Dorsey Play winning first place and getting to enjoy the very unique thrill of dancing and winning - all at the same time.

Natural talent and passion for dance led to professional ballroom
dance teacher training at Arthur Murray School of Dance
and I am
American Standard / Full Bronze
* Instructor Accredited and Certified *

During professional dance teacher training, I caught a serious case of Disco fever. I relished disco dancing (still do!) and spent many hours spinning "Sling Hustle" rounds at the New York City discos, including t-h-e "Studio 54". It became my treasured "secret dream" to dance with "Tony Manero" from the movie "Saturday Night Fever."

My dream will always remain just a dream, but it has been a distinct privilege and pleasure to share my art with many other wonderful, charismatic and talented dancers, teachers and coaches during my colorful dance career.

Dancing with John of SDC

is always an extra special treat. John is a good friend, speaks my native language, is a great dancer, former competitor, leader, teacher/coach and for all of his achievements in the ballroom dance arena, "Mr. Dance" commends the respect of the ballroom dance community at-large.

I have great passion for my special gift from God - the art of dance - but above all dances favor the Tango for the natural knack inherited from long passed on Papa.

"each has his own gift from God" - 1 Corinthians 7:7

"we have different gifts, according to the grace given us" - Romans 12:6

"The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work."
- Emile Zola (1840-1902) -

Among the cherished and many rewards God has granted me in dancing, one I especially treasure is performing dance shows at special events, but especially so for the pleasure and entertainment of the often forgotten older generation, kindred spirits who reside behind the walls of nursing homes and retirement facilities, many of whom were active dance patrons themselves in years gone by.

Together with my dance partners:
Marcin  |  Tashko  |  Mihajlo

I relished the direct contact of socializing with and performing for these endearing folks while entertaining them with dance, music and presence.
