Name: Chewbacca (Chewie)
Status: Pilot and Top Notch Mechanic
Home Planet: Kashyyyk
Species: Wookiee
Age: 200+ Standard Years
Affiliation: Rebel Alliance
Weapon of Choice: Class-C Standard Bowcaster

As a young Wookiee on Kashyyyk, Chewbacca, like most others of his species, excelled at most mechanical skills and piloting all types of vehicles and Starfighters. He was seen as gifted among his peers and was also in excellent physical condition as well. His hand-to-hand technique was matched only by his accuracy with a Bowcaster, which is a weapon of choice among Wookiees. By the time he was 80, still young by standards, he felt the call of the stars and decided to visit the rest of the galaxy around him. He had gained lots of intergalactic experience over sixty years of space travel.

While he was away, Kashyyyk was overtaken by the Empire and Chewie's entire race was declared fair slave trade. This meant that any Wookiee caught roaming free, whether they were on Kashyyyk or not, could be captured and sold into slavery. Chewbacca was eventually found and captured, but not before killing five slavers before he was finally contained and subdued. He was taken to Coruscant, the Imperial capital of the galaxy, and was put into heavy labor.

After his capture, Chewie was sold to a vicious, trigger-happy Imperial slaver by the name of Commander Nyklas. A young, newly-appointed Imperial Named Lieutenant Han Solo was sent by his commanding officer to Coruscant to help Nyklas in his slaving duties. Chewbacca, who had been reluctant to slave for his master, was beaten with a whip-like object for his disobedience. He lost his short temper, which most Wookiees are famous for, and lashed out at Nyklas. The slaver then drew his blaster and was about to terminate the poor creature, but Solo, who was raised by a female Wookiee Named Dewlannamapia as a child, felt he needed to repay the Wookiee race for his mothers sake. So he drew his Imperial-assigned TK-47 blaster rifle and fired at Nyklas. Chewbacca escaped, and Lieutenant Solo was releived of his duties as an Imperial Officer.

During the next few days, Han noticed that the large Wookiee had been following him. He ignored him for a while, but Chewie got the best of him, and they became friends. The Wookiee code of honer left Chewbacca with no choice but to offer Solo a "Life Debt", which is simply put that if someone saves the life of a Wookiee, that person would be offered complete servitude. He declined the offer at first but later accepted it, seeing as the Wookiee wouldn't leave him alone anyway.

Later, Solo and Chewbacca took on the lives of smugglers for a spice dealing crime ring. They met a man named Lando Calrissian, who lived on the floating city in the clouds of Bespin, called Cloud City. Calrissian, who was a famous gambler in the city, offered Solo and the Wookiee a chance to challenge him in a game called "Sabaac". The prize- a smuggling ship called the "Millenium Falcon". Han, out of luck, won the bet. Chewbacca and his partner later made many "Special Modifications" to the YT-1300 freighter.

The two set off to find work in the galaxy. They traveled to a planet in a distant system called Tatooine. There, they met a spice smuggler named Jabba. Jabba was part of a species of large, heavy slug-like creatures called "Hutts".

After a lot of bargaining, Solo and Chewie were hired to take a shipment of precious spices to another system across the galaxy. But trouble came around when an Imperial Starship spotted the Falcon. They were forced to dump the spices outside the ship, for if the Imperials discovered that they had these illegal spices, they would be terminated, along with Jabba the Hutt.

Jabba, of course, was furious with Solo, and put a bounty out for his capture, unless they paid in full for the cargo that they dumped. Bounty Hunters from all corners of the galaxy were on the lookout for the pair of smugglers, but only a young Rodian named Greedo managed to find them while they were having a drink in the Mos Eisley Cantina back on Tatooine. Greedo was going to shoot kill Solo, but Han had a few tricks up his sleeve (or under the table!) for he held his blaster pistol underneath the table ready to fire. And, so, after a little bargaining with the Rodian that didn't seem to work, Greedo shot at Han, but Han nudged out of the way and fired a shot back at Greedo that nailed him in the chest! Also in the Cantina, they met a young farmboy, Luke Skywalker, and a Jedi Knight named Obi-Wan Kenobi. They needed a ship to fly them to the planet of Alderaan, because with them, they had two droids, one of which had stolen top-secret plans that could crush the Galactic Empire's new weapon, the Death Star.
