Attichitcuk - Chewbacca's father who raised him on Kashyyyk. The other Wookiees affectionately refer to him as "Itchy." When Chewie was very little, Itchy carved him a small space ship out of wood. Perhaps it was this wooden ship that sparked Chewie's imagination for ships and droids -- and Chewie's reason to leave the planet and explore the galaxy. When Chewbacca was away, the Imperial slave drivers came and took many Wookiees, but not Attichitcuk who was left behind as an undesirable because of his age. That was when Mallatobuck came to his aid and cared for him.

Bowcaster - The bowcaster is the traditional Wookiee weapon, combining old and new technology into one magnificent firearm. It uses power cells that contain enough energy to take out a fleet of stormtroopers.

Chalmun - a beige-and-gray-haired Wookiee, he owned the infamous Mos Eisley Cantina - sometimes called Chalmun's Cantina - where Chewbacca and Han Solo first met young Luke Skywalker and Jedi Knight, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Chakk - see "Utchakkaloch"

Chenlambec - infamous Wookiee bounty hunter with deep brown, silver-tipped fur, he was known as Chen to his friends. Most others, however, knew him only by his reputation as the Raging Wookiee. Despite his somewhat unsavory reputation as a fierce and hot-tempered killer, Chenlambec and his human partner, Tinian I'att, would often help their "acquisitions" escape to the Rebellion. Chenlambec wore a heavy, reptile-hide bandolier studded with bowcaster quarrels and silver cubes, one of which was actually Flirt, his postronic processor. With the help of Flirt and I'att, Chenlambec rescued a colony of Wookiees imprisoned on Lomabu II while at the same time tricking and capturing the Wookiee-hating Trandoshan bounty hunter, Bossk. The Wookiee owns a ship called the Wroshyr.

Chewbacca - "Chewie" was an important figure in the Galactic Civil War, acting as partner and co-pilot to smuggler Han Solo. Chewie helped the Rebel Alliance in many ways, and was essential to their victory over the Galactic Empire, who had enslaved the Wookiees.

Dejarik (Djarik) - also referred to as "Holo Chess", Dejarik is a complicated game of strategy. Chewbacca is a master champion Dejarik player.

Dewlanna - see "Dewlannamapia"

Dewlannamapia - Dewlannamapia (or Dewlanna, for short) is the Wookiee that raised Han Solo when he was a child. She acted as Han's "mother" and risked her life for Han several times. She eventually died for Han, killed by a man named Garris Shrike. Afterwards, Solo felt that he owed something to Wookiees because of Dewlanna.

Dryanta - male cousin of Chewbacca who has dark brown-colored fur. Dryanta is a top-notch pilot.

First Wookiee Expeditionary Force - the name Shoran gave to the group of brave Wookiees that headed out to the Koornacht Cluster to save Han Solo from the evil Yevetha. The group consisted of Chewbacca, Lumpawaroo, Shoran, Jowdrrl, and Dryanta.

Freyrr - Chewbacca's second cousin, who was respected as the best tracker and lightest-footed stalker in the family.

Gerris Shrike- a man who tried to kill Han Solo. Dewlannamapia, Han's "adoptive mother" was killed by Shrike while trying to save Han.

Imperial occupation (of Kashyyyk) - the period of time in which the Empire occupied Kashyyyk and took Wookiee slaves from the planet. The Imperial occupation of Kashyyyk ended Empire fell shortly after the at the Battle of Endor.

Jowdrrl - small, female cousin of Chewbacca. Jowdrrl has chestnut-colored fur. Surprisingly, Han Solo could actually see a family resemblance between Jowdrrl and Chewie. Jowdrrl is a ship systems engineer. Jowdrrl accompanied Chewbacca and other Wookiees on a mission to save Han Solo from the Yevetha.

Kallabow - a sister of Chewbacca. Kallabow has whorls of auburn fur.

Karryntora - a Wookiee city near Rwookrrorro.

Kashyyyk - Kashyyyk is the homeworld of the Wookiees, located in the Mid Rim, in the Kashyyyk System. It is covered in humongus wroshyr trees.

Katarn - a dangerous carnivorous animal that lives on Kashyyyk. It usually roams the lower levels but sometimes comes up to the higher levels to hunt Wookiees. Wookiees, however, will often hunt the Katarns.

Katarra - a young Wookiee (younger than Chewie, at least) who was the leader of the "Wookiee Underground". Katarra was the well-respected daughter of Tarkazza. She has brown and tan fur but, like her father, has a silver streak running down her back.

Kichiir - a member of the "Wookiee Underground".

Kolvissh - a white flower that grows on Kashyyyk.

Kriyystak - a good friend of Chewbacca, who he'd known since childhood. Not much is known about Kriyystak.

Kroyies - a bird-like creature that lives on Kashyyyk. It was once considered a prized food, but now the poor can eat it. Wookiees use huge searchlights to attract kroyies. Hunters then stand by to shoot them.

Kshyy vine - a strong, durable plant native to Kashyyyk. Because of its strength, Wookiees use it to haul supplies and other things in lift carts. The kshyy vine can't be cut, even by a blaster shot.

Life debt - a large part of Wookiee culture that states that if any Wookiee's life has been saved by someone else, that Wookiee must stand by that person and protect them to the death. This commitment is backed by Wookiee honor, tenacity, and raw strength. Chewbacca owes Han Solo a life debt, for Han killed a fellow Imperial who was about to murder Chewie while he was enslaved.

Liftcars - elevator-type devices that are usually used to transport cargo or ill Wookiees up and down, and under, Wookiee cities. Most Wookiees prefer to climb the trees naturally, though.

Lowbacca - Chewbacca's Force-Sensitive nephew who joined Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy twenty-three years after the Battle of Endor. Lowie quickly became friends with Jacen and Jaina Solo and Tenel Ka. Lowie wears only a glossy syren belt to which is connected a tiny translator droid, Em Teedee. He has ginger fur with a black streak that starts at his left eye and then continues down his back. Lowie was the Jedi student who discovered the crashed TIE Fighter in the Yavin IV forest.

Lumpawaroo - Lumpawaroo is the name that Lumpawarump took on after his "coming-of-age" ceremonies (see "Hyrrtayyk"). The "Waroo" part means, "son of courage". Seen as part of his coming-of-age test, Waroo, his father, and group of other Wookiees rescued Han Solo, who had been taken prisoner aboard a Yevethan cruiser. Lumpy was shot in the leg during the battle, but he quickly recovered.

Lumpawarump - Lumpawarump, or "Lumpy" as he was often referred to, is the son of brave Rebel hero Chewbacca.

Mahraccor - the husband of Kallabow, who was married while Chewie was away from his planet. Mahraccor is the brother-in-law of Chewbacca.

Malla - (see "Mallatobuck")

Mallatobuck - The beautiful Wookiee wife of Chewbacca, Malla is a gentle mother and caretaker who often works in the Wookiee nursery rings. While Chewbacca had left Kashyyyk and headed out to search the galaxy, Malla took care of Chewie's father, Attichitcuk. Malla is slightly shorter than her husband, Chewbacca, and does not have his strength or his legendary temper. Her fur is also slightly lighter than Chewie's. Malla has an evil brother, Vargi. Malla and Chewie were married about ten years prior to the Battle of Yavin.

Millennium Falcon - legendary starship at command of Han Solo and Chewbacca.

Motamba - an older Wookiee who was part of the "Wookiee Underground Resistance". Motamba was a munitions expert.

Quarrels - the standard ammunition of bowcasters.

Quarr-tellerrra - the name the Wookiees gave to Bria Tharen, a leader of the Corellian resistance. The name means, "sun-haired warrior," because her hair is the color of the sun, yellow-red.

Quillrat - a dangerous porcupine-like creature that roams the lower levels of Kashyyyk. As marriage proposal, a male Wookiee had to hunt down the quillrat and then share the meal with his bride-to-be, for the quillrat is one of the best tasting foods a Wookiee can eat.

Quulaars - large sack of woven Wookiee hair used to babitransport Wookiee babies through the jungles of Kashyyyk. The Wookiees will place the person in the sack and strap it to their backs, and then climb upwards through the trees.

Ralrra- see "Ralrracheen."

Ralrracheen - a tall male Wookiee who has a strange speech impediment that allows humans (that know at least a little Wookiee) to understand him easily. "Ralrra", as he liked to be called, was useful while humans visited, for it was very easy for him to communicate with the humans. Ralrra has brown fur. Ralrra was one of the three Wookiees protecting Leia when he was shot with an underpowered stun weapon.

Rwook - one of the many Wookiee sub-species. Rwooks usually have brown and reddish fur. Chewbacca is Rwook.

Rwookrrorro - Rwookrrorro is one of the many giant Wookiee cities located on the Wookiee planet of Kashyyyk. It lies high up in the wroshyr trees, with its foundation being the gigantic wroshyr branches that cover the planet. The branches are so large, that huge hangars have been built into some, with each hangar capacity ranging from up to six ships. The hangars are located on lower levels of the city, as the branches are bigger and stronger down there, and it is easier to hide from the Imperials because ships can only enter through a twisting, narrow path carved into the tree. Anyone who doesn't know the exact path, will most likely crash or get lost in the dwindling maze that leads to the hangar. The nursery pods are located up on higher levels, above the city, in order to keep the young and defenseless away from the preying beasts that dwell in the lower levels of Kashyyyk. The people of Rwookrrorro belong to the Wookiee sub-species of Rwook. The Rwooks usually have brownish or red fur. Chewbacca is from Rwookrrorro.

Ryyk blades - menacing swords that are popular weapons among Wookiees, next to bowcasters.

Salporin - Chewie's best Wookiee friend, who he has known since childhood. Salporin was unable to be at Chewie's wedding, for he had been taken by the Empire as a slave. Salporin was killed while protecting Princess Leia from the vicious Noghri.

Senator Yarua - the respected senator representing Kashyyyk, Senator Yarua has a firm sense of fair justice. He finds commercial power within the senate reprehensible and is determined to restore justice to galactic government. Over the years, the Wookiees have made many contributions to the Republic . . . unfortunately, when the Empire rose to power, the Wookiee senators, and their species, were imprisoned and used as slaves.

Shoran - an old friend of Chewbacca. Shoran accompanied Chewbacca on their mission to rescue Han Solo from the Yevetha. Shoran acted as Chewie's primary cover and firemate. Sadly, Shoran fell in a heated gun battle with thirteen Yevethan guards.

Shyriiwook - language of the Wookiees, which consists of grunts, growls and barks. Loosely translated, it means, "Language of the tree-people."

Snoova - the rogue Wookiee bounty hunter who has disrespected Wookiee tradition since he entered the business. He has brown fur with black splotches all over and a "flat-top" hair cut. During the events between the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Endor, Chewbacca disguised himself as Snoova in order to gain access to Coruscant and Prince Xizor's palace.

Tarkazza - the father of Katarra, the leader of the "Wookiee Underground" Tarkazza has black fur with a silvery streak running down his back.

Thikkiiana Peninsula - an area on Kashyyyk.

Trandosha - a planet near Kashyyyk which is inhabited by the reptilian Trandoshan. The Trandoshans are the enemies of the Wookiees, the ones who convinced the Empire to enslave the Wookiees.

Trandoshans - the evil reptilian enemies of the Wookiees, who convinced the Empire to enslave the Wookiees. The famous bounty hunter, Bossk, is a Trandoshan.

Utchakkaloch - the son of Dewlannamapia, the Wookiee that raised Han Solo as a child. Han eventually met "Chakk" at Chewbacca's wedding, where Han told the Wookiee that his mother died a hero. Chakk is actually distantly related to Chewbacca through a second cousin three times removed who emigrated to Rwookrrorro and married Chewie's great-aunt's niece. Chakk sees Han as his "adopted brother."

Vargi - Mallatobuck's evil and immoral brother who aided Imperial slavers and helped imprison the people of Chewbacca's clan.

Vrortick cocktail - a favored Wookiee food dish that contains various meats and layers of wroshyr leaves that had been soaked in potent grakkyn nectar for weeks.

Well of the Dead - an area in the Kashyyyk forest that is known to be dangerous and frightening. It is located three levels down from Rwookrroroo and eighteen kilometers northeast along the Rryatt Trail. This is the place were Wookiee fathers take their children during their coming-of-age ceremonies(see "Hrrtayyk"), so they could trap and kill a Scuttle Grazer as the second part of hunting test.

Wookiee - The Wookiees are a race of large bipedal creatures, native to Kashyyyk. They are strong and covered in fur. Chewbacca is a Wookiee.

Wroshyr trees - the miles-high trees that cover most of Kashyyyk. The wroshyr branches are extremely thick and long, and are capable of being made into ship hangars, which can hold numerous starships. When two wroshyr branches meet, they grow into each other and sprout new branches. The Wookiees live in the higher levels of the forest, as the dangerous predators roam the forest's dark depths. The Wookiee nurseries are placed atop the highest wroshyr trees. The Wookiees consider some of the trees sacred. Some of the trees can reach above the clouds. Wrrl - (see "Wrrlevgebev")

Wrrlevgebev - Wrrlevgebev is the Wookiee bodyguard of the I'att family on the planet Il Avali. The strong Wookiee owes a life debt to Tinian I'att, because the girl, who was only twelve years old at the time, came to Wrrl's aid when a slave dealer was beating him. Little did she know of Wookiee customs, Wrrlevgebev followed her around everywhere. Wrrl has a distinctive red-blond stripe across his face.

Xachibik broth - a highly favored food on Kashyyyk, it is a thick meat, herb, and spice combination. It is one of the few Wookiee foods that are not too spicy, hot, or raw for humans to eat.

Xaczik - the "code language" adopted by the "Wookiee Underground" during the Imperial occupation.
