I thought I would describe the operation of the 2 tone keynote pager
To start with the 2 tone keynote is a voice pager that when receiving
The Minitor II and Minitor III can work exactly like this or can select
Some Keynotes and Minitor II have memory and some do not.
Why buy a keynote when Minitor II is dependable and can monitor already?
I will give some of the pros and cons of it as compared with the Minitor II and III
I will also try to help you select the correct keynote for your application.
the proper 2 sequential paging tones will beep then the receiver will
open to allow the following message to be heard.
After the message the user will hear unsquelched audio (noise)
To stop the noise the user will push the reset button.
This will shut the pager up until you get another page.
It is not capable of monitoring all the traffic on the frequency without
hearing static (unsquelched audio/noise).
monitor mode, which can monitor the frequency at all times if desired.
The Minitor II is the best pager of the 3 in my opinion.
That is because it is dependable like the keynote and has the monitor capabilities.
The Minitor III has the monitor capabilities and much more but I rate it as
the worst of the bunch because it has too many problems.
Motorola has tried to take care of the problems but I haven't heard anything
good about them from anyone who ever used them.
If you use a Minitor III and like it please email me to let me know.
The Keynote can have the monitor capability added by adding a Monitor Adaptor.
It is actually a squelch circuit hardwired into the existing Keynote pager.
I charge an extra $60.00 for this Monitor Adaptor if you buy the pager from me.
I send the pager off to P & W Service to have the Monitor Adaptor installed.
I would install it but It would cost me $50.00 plus shipping(approx $5.00) to buy it.
I only save the cost of shipping the pager to them so I have them install it.
After the voice message is received it is stored in memory.
If you push the replay button they will repeat the message.
that you are not buying a 5 tone or Golay
unless you are sure that is what you want.
Here is a sample keynote model #
A03CJC2468AA
I will display it again with the most important number black
AO3CJC2468AA
The position where the 4 is tells you the paging format
If it says:
4 = 2 tone paging format
5 = 5 tone paging format
6 = Golay paging format
Almost all Fire Departments and EMS in the country use
2 tone paging format.
It was the first. No reason to change.
Next is the frequency band
VHF = approximately 150 mhz to 170 mhz
UHF = approximately 450 mhz to 470 mhz
A03CJC2468AA
If where the 3 is = 3 it is VHF
If where the 3 is = 4 it is UHF
OK Brain is empty so I must stop.
Hope it helps someone.
