On May 1, 1996 Allen announced he would leave the Hoyas to play in the NBA. The 76ers had the No 1 draft pick that year, and Iverson expressed his desire to play there by visting them as the only team for tryout. He was drafted No 1 in 1996 by the Philadelphia 76ers. Included in the 1996 draft were players such as Antoine Walker, Kerry Kittles, Stephon Marbury, Marcus Camby and Kobe Bryant. So being drafted No 1 out of all these players was another great accomplishment for Allen. In his rookie year he had 5 consecutive 40 plus point games, breaking Wilt Chamberlain's record. Iverson was also named Rookie of the Year, and MVP of the Rookie All Star Game. He also became the youngest player to score 50 points in a game, which he achieved on April 12, 1997 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is best known in the NBA for his quickness, and great skill. His best move that he has shown to the NBA is his crossover. He has perhaps the best crossover in the history of the NBA. He has shown almost every NBA team his crossover and even succesfully used the crossover on NBA greats, like Michael Jordan. (Go to theater page, it will be the movie on the top of the page playing) ".....Some games I don't even use my crossover. Cause the person that's checking me be so scared of it, I don't even have to use it. They think I'ma use it every damn play," Iverson said on his crossover. Another one of his great moves is his reverse lay-up. In Allen's opinion he has a different second best move. "My hands-up move, when I raise people. That's a real effective move 'cause it puts peoples feet in concrete. Wet concrete. You can do a hands-up and they'll think you're shooting a jumper, then they'll get flat-footed, then you're able to just go right by 'em." Since the incident. Allen has had body-guards. They now decide where it's cool for him to be. Iverson said he had no problem with it, and it was actually supposed to be his idea. On Allen's distance from his teammates Brown says, "The company Allen's with is Reebok, not us." Which is supposed to define why he is an independant player. As soon as Allen made his mark in the NBA, Reebok wanted him to sign a shoe deal, which he agreed to. His first basketball shoe was the "Reebok the Question" then "Reebok the Answer". His third and newest shoe is the "Reebok 3 DMX Answer." Iverson always tries to be as low profile as possible on the streets and in public. but with his attitude (not in a bad way) it isn't very low. Why? Because he is always wearing hewelry of some kind. Which isn't a problem, but he show's it off, letting poeple know who he is. He does this by rolling up his sleeves and showing off the platinum, rings, more than likely a Rolex, etc. But , "I always looked at it like, 'Just give me one more chance I'ma make something out of it.' God gave me one more chance and I made something out of it. I think they just respect that," -Allen Ezail Iverson
