8/19 1921 At the age of 34, Ty Cobb becomes the youngest player to reach 3000 hits when he singles of off Red Sox hurler Elmer Myers.

5/17 1925 In a 2-1 loss to the Senators, Indian Tris Speaker singles off pitcher Tom Zachary to amass 3000 hits in his career.

6/6 1925 White Sox Eddie Collins, at the age of 38, becomes the sixth MLer to have 3000 hits when he doubles off of Washington's Walter Johnson.

6/19 1942 Boston Brave Paul Waner singles off Pirate Rip Sewell to collect 3000 hits; he is the seventh MLer to accomplish this feat and the first to do it since 1925.

5/13 1958 Stan Musial collects his 3000th hit off Moe Brabowsky as cards beat Cubs, 5-3.

5/17 1970 Hank Aaron becomes the 9th MLer to have 3,000 hits when he scratches an infield single off of Red's Wayne Simpson.

7/18 1970 In his 2,639th game, Giant Willie Mays singles off of Expo Mike Wegener in the second inning for his 3000th carrer hit as San Francisco routs Montreal,10-1 .

9/30 1972 Pirate Roberto Clemente doubles off Met Jon Matlack to become the 11th MLer to have 3000 hits; the hit, sadly, it will be his last as he will die in a plane crash on New Year's Eve.
9/24 1974 Tiger outfielder Al Kaline gets his 3000th hit, a double off of Oriole hurler Dave McNally at Memorial Stadium in a 5-4 loss to the Birds.

5/5 1978 When he singles off of Expo pitcher Steve Rogers, Pete Rose becomes a member of the 3000 hits club.
8/13 1979 Lou Brock reaches the milestone of off Dennis Lamp in a 3-2 Cardinal victory over the Cubs.

9/12 1979 Carl Yastrzemski reaches the 3000 hits milestone when he singles off of Yankee Jim Beattie.

8/4 1985 Angel Rod Carew singles off of Twin Frank Viola in the third inning to become the 16th MLer to amass 3000 hits.
9/9 1992 At County Stadium in front of 47,589 home fans, Robin Yount becomes the 17th player and third youngest to reach the 3000 career hit milestone when he singles off of Indian reliever Jose Mesa in a 5-4 defeat to Cleveland.

9/30 1992 Royals third baseman George Brett singles off of Tim Fortugno in the seventh to have 3000 hits; it is fourth hit in the KC 4-0 victory over the Angels.

9/16 1993 At the age of 41, Twins Dave Winfield becomes th 19th MLer to collect 3000 hits as he singles to left off of A's ace Dennis Eckersley in a 5-1 home victory over Oakland.

9/6 1996 O's Eddie Murray becomes the 15th player in MLB history to hit 500 HRs, and joins only H. Aaron and W. Mays becoming the 3rd player to do it and also have 3000 hits.

9/16 1996 A fifth inning triple off of Royal pitcher Jose Rosado gives Twins Paul Molitor his 3000th career hit and he will become the first MLer to accomplish this milestone in the same season in which he also collects 200 hr's; it is the first time a three-bagger is a career 3000th hit
8/06 1999 Padre Tony Gwynn singles off of Expo rookie right-hander Dan Smith in the first inning to get his 3000th career hit; he finishes the night 4 for 5 passing Roberto Clemente into 21st place on the all-time career hit list.
8/7 1999 For the second consecutive day, a MLer gets his 3000th career hit as Wade Boggs homers in the sixth off of Indian Chris Haney. The Devil Ray's third baseman is the first player to reach the milestone with a home run.
4/15 2000 The Baltimore Orioles Iron Man became the 24th member of the 3,000-hit club with a line drive single to center field off Minnesota Twins reliever Hector Carrasco in the top of the seventh inning.
