Happy New Year...The Kittens will be kicking off '07 with a show at the superfly Purdy Lounge on South Beach...chill vibe, cheap drinks, and no cover. If you're in the area come on by and rock out...

November 2006...It seems so long since we've played a Christmastime gig, so we're looking forward to the Rock-n-Roll Christmas Party on 12.23.... We'll be sharing the stage with some of our Fave, Most Rocking Bands in South Florida, and spreading a little Rock-n-Roll Christmas Cheer, Ft. Lauderdale Style...

OCTOBER 2006....The CD release party for The Diamond-Cutter Sessions will be at POPLIFE in Miami on Saturday, Nov. 4th. If you're in South Florida, we hope to see you there...

SEPTEMBER 2006....the brand new DIAMOND-CUTTER EP set for a Halloween release...check out the first track "She Calls Me Daddy" HERE.

AUGUST 2006....New CD on the way! The band is recording a new EP at The Power Station. Working once again with Joe Butera III at the controls, and graced with the fat sound of Tony Bongiovi's Power Station, the 5 song project is tentatively titled The Diamond-Cutter EP. Sessions are due to wrap on 8/31, and an October release is in the works.

FEBRUARY 2006....The Kittens finally opened for the Detroit Cobras on the 11th, the show having been postponed due to Hurricane Wilma, and a fun, sloppy time was had by all. Head Cobra Miss Rachel was more lit than Exene Cervenka...something we had not believed possible. Well, she is from Detroit.

JANUARY 2006...Check out our own Superjade making an appearance in The Flaming Lips recent rockumentary DVD The Fearless Freaks!

December 2005...Happy New Year to you all....bring it on 2006!

NOVEMBER 2005...Hurricane Wilma, YOU BITCH!!! ....The storm really tossed South Florida's cookies...everthing cancelled, no power (for weeks in some cases)....The NY Dolls show was a no go as well. Oh well.....c'est la vie baby.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22...ladies and gentlemen, the fabulous DETROIT COBRAS have postponed. The show has been postponed due to the impending hurricane. Hmmm....The Kittens once opened for The Damned DURING a hurricane...(check out Cap'n Sensible's Tour Diary for a humorous account of the evening....those guys are bloody PROS) ......

OCTOBER 2005...HAPPY HALLLOWEEN...Some interesting shows coming this month: 10/22 with The Detroit Cobras, and 10/27 with The New York Dolls. We will be test driving three brand new songs, and enjoying our return to the stage...our first shows since July.

SEPTEMBER 2005...Our prayers and sympathy to New Orleans, and all areas struck by the 2005 hurricanes. As Floridians, we're quite familiar....
We are still in shock over New Orleans, the spiritual homeland of American music. But we believe that, just as Jazz and Blues, forefathers of the Rock, Soul, and Hip-Hop which descended from them, were grown from a soil of hardship and pain, so will New Orleans rise from this tragedy greater than before.
If you need a N'awlins music fix, check out this link: WWOZ FM....

AUGUST 2005...WHEW! ...It's been a helluva summer folks, and it ain't over yet. We've been forced offline for awhile now, but we're back. We'll do further updating to the site as soon as we get our high speed connection...(this dial-up sux).
The band is currently taking a break from live shows and trying to get some recording done. We are, however, looking forward to our return to the stage in October, opening for the Detroit Cobras. (yes, that's right THE DETROIT COBRAS)

MAY 2005...Rain and power problems plagued us at Calliope Fest IV on the 21st, but we did manage to squeeze in most of our set before the deluge...Ginger Snapped got in a short set as well, but unfortuately Rasputina was totally rained out, although Paige reports that Revue Noir rocked a few numbers acoustically to the few drenched souls who remained...
Our friend Doug Gilmour, know to many in South Florida as DJ Dug Skullery, passed away on April 28th. We will be hosting a memorial party for him on June 18th at The Red Lion Pub in Boynton Beach. It's free, and we'll be playing some old numbers that the prolific Mr. Gilmour wrote.

APRIL 2005....We're sorry to report that Francis' father passed away suddenly on April 7th...our condolences to his family. Needless to say, our April 9th gig at Gumwrappers is cancelled. We will reschedule as soon as possible.

FEBRUARY 2005....Lots of shows in the works, and new material coming along...The Kittens are now featured on Mohawk Radio....check it out!

DECEMBER 2004...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. See you in 2005!

NOVEMBER 2004...Another rocking City Link Music Fest...thanks to our excellent fans for the great support! We obviously enjoyed ourselves, eh? Check out the new photo gallery

OCTOBER 2004...The Kelsey Club rocks! The Kittens played a ROCK the VOTE show there on 10.15. A really 1st class venue...great stage(with an actual curtain)good sound and lights, plus a real backstage...too bad we hear it's closing soon...Thanks to Mindlikewater for the great show.

OCTOBER 2004...The Band opened for the Cramps on 10.2, a good time had by all. We now have free song downloads available. These will change regularly, with most available for a limited time only. Just click HERE.

SEPTEMBER 2004...Thanks a LOT Frances...Hurricane Frances whacked us real good, most of us without power for days, and Rob being under a facist curfew which prevented us from opening for Rev. Horton Heat as scheduled...ahh, whaddya gonna do? By the 17th all was back to normal (?) and we played a rockin' show at the Surf in Boca with The Inside (pretty damn straight rhythm section guys!), and the lovely and kick-ass Secret PE Club...thanks to PE Clubber Mindy for the photo above.

AUGUST 2004...GREAT SHOW BITCHES, THANKS FOR THE BACON! ...The 2004 Bitches -n- Bacon Tour on the 14th was a gas gas gas...thanks to some of Florida's best bands (Ginger Snapped, Billy Boloby and Trapped by Mormons) for gettin' greasy with us and providing some truly superior rockin'. Let's do it again sometime, K?

JULY 2004... R.I.P. Robert Quine. The great (greatest ever?) punk rock guitarist OD'd in NYC -coincidentally the same weekend the Kittens were in town- We were saddend to hear the news. If you've never heard of him (shame!)...click HERE and be enlightened....

JUNE 2004... Thank you NYC!!! ...you were great. Good food, perfect weather, cool people everywhere we went...we enjoyed every frikkin' minute. "NYCsinIII" was a blast...we played with some really smoking bands (Uncle Fucker, Lady Unluck, Bloodstained Kings, and of course SBG!), and we didn't even embarrass ourselves...The next night, we had the pleasure of catching the fabulous DETROIT COBRAS at the Bowery Ballroom, opening for the Rev. Horton Heat...Then, a jet plane back to drippingly hot Miami, and an unexpectedly great show with "F" at Churchill's on the 5th... On the 12th, we played an all Blondie set at Rocket Projects, (was there any place hotter and muggier than Miami that night?) ...the set went fairly smoothly, Paige charming the crowd with a few spanish verses in "Sunday Girl" (maybe they were just laughing at her accent)...

APR 2004... NEW YORK NEW YORK...the Kittens will be jetting to NYC on May 28th to play "NYCitySin III" at the Knitting Factory, (and peelin' some skin off the Big Apple over memorial day weekend...)Hosted by the lovely and dangerous Skinny Blonde and Goodlooking ...Tix and info available through the Knitting Factory website...

APR 2004...lots going on...details soon....

HAPPY NEW YEAR....hell YES...The Kittens would like to thank all of you for hanging in there with us in 2003. It's been a tough year, but we came through alright. The first thing on the schedule for 2004 is recording all of this new material, so look for a new CD this year.

DEC 2003...It's official, the band welcomes our wicked 6th drummer, Rob Wilson. He passed his final exam at the City Link MusicFest on 12.6. As usual, the fest was a lot of fun...great crowd, lots of good bands, a beautiful chilly night, crappy sound on our stage but what the hell, it was rockin' anyway...Paige was also featured in the annual music issue...Check out City Link for her Q. and A.

NOV 2003....much is happening...we sit and wait for the stars to align...stay tuned, all will be told as it plays out...speaking of stars, Francis' little girl Starr was born on 11.11 ...EL PAPI DESTRUCTO!!!

SEP 2003...Another summer gone so quickly...The Kittens' stripped down set at the "Metamorphosis" Art exhibit on the 20th was fun. Good crowd, good food, and some really interesting artworks...thanks to Red Pearl Yoga for having us, and to James for filling in on drums. Check out redpearlyoga.com

JULY 2003...So much news, so little time...An evening of good old drunken rock and roll was had by all on 6.29 at Tavern 213 in Ft. Lauderdale, with The Kittens, plus Skinny, Blonde & Goodlooking and Trapped by Mormons. The girls from SBG were most impressive, quite charming, and very "NYC". They and the boys from TBM made the Kittens' amps, which were backline for the night, scream for mercy . Also, it was Jorges last show. He will be pursuing his education. SO...on 7.3 the band travelled to Naples, FL for a show, with none other than Moneyshot Malone filling in on drums. One of the bands on the bill that night were really great...they were called Jenji, and we hope to hear more from them in the future. But first, of course, we need a drummer...stay tuned.

JUNE 2003...What a killer time opening for X...they sounded great, and how cool to meet living legends...Q: did Exene seem drunk to you? A: I was in no shape to notice....

MAY 2003...The Kittens traveled upstate for a few shows...we really enjoyed Gainesville (thanks to Melissa for her lovely hospitality), and thanks to Derek from DC-3 for hooking us up in Orlando.

APR 2003 ....The Kittens are a quartet again. Michael has left the band, slayed by that old nemesis, "artistic differences". The #2 guitar spot is still waiting for that special person. Thanks to surfxtc.com for honoring the Kittens as a featured artist on their site. Keep rippin' y'all.

MAR 2003...Happy springtime to you all, which in S. Fla. means it's HOT again. We're trying to keep our cool, planning our spring tour, and writing new songs. Our country is at war, and while we don't presume to really know if it's right or wrong, our prayers go out to our soldiers, and indeed to all those suffering as a result. We hope for a speedy resolution, and if rock & roll ever comes to Baghdad, sign us up!

FEB 2003.... We had a great time on the 8th playing the HOT, WET MIAMI BEACH show. The band sounded fierce, and it was fun playing for the odd passerby on the Lincoln Road mall. Thanks to the hosts and staff, Daren for the cool photos, and to Lexie for her killer pix.

DEC 2002...As we bid adieu to 2002, we must say we haven't been this excited about the band in quite some time. The new guys, Michael and Jorge, are really rockin' our socks off and we look forward to 2003....

NOV 2002....HAPPY BIRTHDAY RSC....We had a blast playing Respectable Street Cafe's 15th birthday party. Thanks to Rodney, Steve, the lovely staff, and all who came out for a great evening. We can't even easily recall all the good times we've had at RSC over the years...thanks for the memories.

OCT 2002...R.I.P. ANTHONY. The Livid Kittens join the rest of the South Florida music community in mourning the passing of Anthony Anguiera, guitarist of Purge. Anthony died on 10.25. Our sympathy to his loved ones...we will miss him.

OCT 2002...A NEW KITTEN? Michael Contreras joined the band onstage for The Reverend Horton Heat show (10.1), and played some impressive Telecaster, despite having only one week to learn the songs. The final piece of our puzzle? Stay tuned... The Reverend rocked, as usual. And we do mean "rocked", in the fine classical sense of the term. The place was packed, and on a Tuesday. A great time. Thanks Rev. (and Greg).

SEP 2002...Angel "Radar" Vidal has become an Ex-Kitten. As the leader of Stardriver, the pressure of two bands became too much. We wish him well and thank him for his time with us. The band is currently auditioning guitar players to fill his spot, but will continue as a 4-piece in the meantime.

AUG 2002...THANK YOU RASPUTINA! The show (8.13) rocked. The Kittens played a dark set, basking in the warm reception of Rasputina's excellent and huge crowd, whipping out some old goth numbers and reworking some newer stuff to suit the occasion. And what an occasion! Paige was in fine form, charming the little boys, and especially the little girls. The band was pretty sharp, clicking along like a haunted freight train. Then Rasputina came on, otherworldly and beautiful, and were totally mesmerizing. We met Melora, saw old friends we haven't seen for years, drank for free, and actually got paid for it! An excellent evening.

AUG 2002...The Warped tour was fun, despite the Africa-like heat. MXPX was good, and Bad Religion blew the lesser bands away. We looked forward to seeing NOFX and were surprised at how much they SUCKED... (What, you think you're rock stars or something?....sad...). The ever faithful Lexie came early enough to catch our set. Check out her photos...HERE.

MAY 2002...Paige was recently named Best Female Rock Vocalist of the Year. New Times bestowed the honor on our very own SuperJade in their Best of 2002 issue (5.16) Check it out by clicking HERE. The VERY NEXT DAY we got more good news...our search for a new drummer is over. Jorge Posada joined the band on 5.17. He's young, he's cool, and he ROCKS. Ladies, we'll get a pic up on this site ASAP. Our former drummer, Moneyshot Malone, is moving to New Orleans to pursue his day job in the internet porn industry. This is a good move for him, careerwise, and we wish him the best. His last show with us was April 5th with the ToiletBoys. Check out some cool pix of the show by the lovely Lexie HERE. A good time all around, with killer sets from the Heatseekers and Gods & Monsters to start things off...Then the Kittens took the stage, delivering a crisp and concise 25 minutes, including a T-REX cover("Raw Ramp")...after our set, the T-Boys dazzled and rocked the crowd, looking and sounding every inch the rock stars they are. They're all really cool guys, too.

APR 2002... Ponyboy's new son, Raymond David, was born on April 16th...He's healthy and very good looking...congrats to David and beautiful Kimberly.

MAR 2002.... As avid fans are well aware, The Kittens are featured on an Instinct Records concept CD released on 2.12.02. It's called "Twelve Tales" and includes songs by Rasputina, The Creatures, The Cranes, Legendary Pink Dots, and Miranda Sex Garden, as well as art by Amy Brown and original stories by Melora Creager of Rasputina. The Kitten tune featured is "Flying", from the Undercool CD (1998). Look for it at independent record stores and all Hot Topic locations. The March 21st issue of NEW TIMES featured an article about the Kittens inclusion on the compilation. Check out the story at newtimesbpb.com

JAN 2002...As we drift into 2002, we take a moment to look back on 2001, a busy year. In addition to recording the new CD, we had a great time playing lots of killer shows, including opening for Iggy Pop, Fear, Samantha 7, and even the Impotent Sea Snakes. We dealt with the shock of 9.11 by playing a huge benefit show in Boynton Beach. Francis became a new daddy on 11.4 with the birth of his son Lennon, and we wrapped the year up by playing a pair of great Ft. Lauderdale shows...an atypical semi-acoustic set for the opening of the 'GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS art exhibit on 12.1 at the LaLush gallery, and a full-throttle show on 12.29 at the Culture Room with Trapped by Mormons, Pank Shovel, and The Stopmotion

Now available through this site, the new 8-song CD 'MORE FLAMES TO FALL IN LOVE WITH'...see soundtrack page for ordering info

'MORE FLAMES...' features 8 new songs including covers of The Beatles 'She Said She Said' and The Prom Sluts 'Spastic'. South Florida Kitten fans may call and request cuts from the new CD at WKPX (954.572.1335)and WNSU (954.262.8460) Check out an MP3 version of the lead track 'Butterwood' HERE.

We must comment...Recording More Flames to Fall in Love With was a pleasure. We did it at Avalon Recording in Port St. Lucie, Fl., with engineer par excellence Joe Butera III at the controls. We gave away dozens of advance copies at our show on 12.29. The finished edition, with cover art by Francesco LoCastro, as well as lyrics, is available in S. Fla. at Blue Note, Specs in Miami, and Uncle Sams SoBe and Lauderhill.. It is also available through this site, and at Amazon.com. Many thanks to Chuck Loose at snap-e-chuck.com for his expert and artistic graphic design, Breta Branyon (bebphoto.com) for her camera talent, and Marc Aptakin for his imaging services.
