John Edward Conefrey and Sharon Ann Tanner were wed in a very simple ceremony at the Indian River County Courthouse in Vero Beach, Florida, at 1:30 p.m., on October 7, 1997. The ceremony was performed by the Deputy Clerk of the courthouse.
Because it was the third marriage for both of us, we decided that we didn't want all the usual fancy clothes, guests, flowers and all the other "hoopla" that goes with a wedding. Instead, we chose to say our vows to each other with only God and the Deputy Clerk as our witnesses.
After the ceremony, we had our wedding dinner at the New England Eatery in Melbourne, Florida. Then we returned to our home in Vero Beach to spend the next three days enjoying our new lives together before I had to return to Illinois to finish out my job at Shawnee Health Service and to pack up my household goods for my move to Vero Beach. I really wouldn't recommend that everybody begin their new life this way, but it worked for us!
Thank you, John, for loving me as much as I love you. You are another of the "angels" in my life and I thank God every day that He chose to bring us together.
