And Welcome to my Veruca Salt page

Veruca Salt is an alternative band, their debut album was American thighs, featuring Seether, one of the coolest songs I've ever heard, Seether is like one of those problem teens, it was fun 'coz since I used to always get into troubles, it was like "Oh well, at least I know what I am now..."

Their second album Eight arms to hold you was somehow different but good, this time their songs were like focused on something deeper, like sadness and loneliness, somehow more spiritual, but there are songs like Volcano girls that represents an icon.

I like alternative bands because of their fun, strange, reckless and obsessive lyrics, I think a band is alternative when they say lines that sometimes seem to lack of sense, like "Honey please, seize me, I know what I need, plan B, some security" or "No bye, No aloha, gone with a rock promotor" and you give them a sense that might be closer to the real but it's always yours.

Well, Veruca Salt is separated now, "it's tragic" but it seems like Nina's going to release a solo album on September, and Louise is gonna keep VS going and they will release new material as well.

I think the next person on the group should be a red hair girl with a name like Lisa.

Nina Gordon - Vocals and guitar
Louise Post - Vocals and guitar too
Steve Lack - Bass
Jim Shapiro - Drums

The original formation. Later Stacy Jones joined.

Biography:

Acording to what I know it's like this...

Nina and Louise met on early 1993 ('92's new year's eve), they were introduced by a common friend named Lili, Steve Lack answered an ad and that's how he joined the group. And Jim is Nina's older brother, who used to have his own band, but he agreed on helping them for a while. The name (Veruca Salt) was taken from Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory

Stacy Jones joined the band later; he was former drummer for Letters to Cleo.

They released two mayor albums, an Ep, and other songs and covers like Aurora, Stacy Please, She's a Brain, My Sharona, Break-up song, Somebody... Nina sang with James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) a song called "Said sadly" which can be found on the b-side of the "Bullet with butterfly wings" single
