THE EAGLE

I SIT IN THIS PEACEFUL VALLEY,
AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEAR,
THE CRIES OF A MIGHTY EAGLE,
THEY SEEM TO BE IN FEAR...

I WONDER WITH A SHAKEN HEART,
WHAT ALL THE FUSS COULD BE,
AS I WATCH THIS WONDERFUL CREATURE,
LAND IN THE TALLEST TREE...

I CLIMBED THE STEEP REVIEGN,
I'M ALL BUT OUT OF BREATH,
AND THERE TO MY SURPRISE,
WAS A CAREFULLY CONSTRUCTED NEST...

THE EAGLE IS VERY DISTRAUGHT,
HER ANGUISH APPEARENT AS WELL,
SHE SCREAMS IN HORROR AS IF TO PLEADE,
FOR THE LITTLE ONE WHO HAD FELL...

THE EAGLET WAS LAYING ON THE GROUND,
SO COLD, FRIGHTENED AND SMALL,
HE TRIED HIS WINGS A BIT TO SOON,
UNPREPARED FOR SUCH A FALL...

I MADE MY WAY TO THE PLACE,
WHERE HIS BODY LAYS IN PAIN,
I PICKED HIM UP AND WARMED HIM,
HIS MOTHER'S CRIES WON'T GO IN VAIN...

I MENDED HIS WING IN TIME,
AND CARED FOR HIM LIKE MY OWN,
I GAVE HIM LOVE AND COMFORTED HIM,
UNTIL HE WAS HALF GROWN...

THE TIME HAS COME THAT HE MUST GO,
TEARS WELL UP IN MY EYES,
TO SEE THIS THING OF GREAT BEAUTY,
SOAR ACROSS THE SKIES...

I CARRIED HIM ACROSS THE VALLEY,
TO THE PLACE WHERE HE WAS FOUND,
TO RETURN HIM TO HIS FAMILY,
THEN I PLACED HIM ON THE GROUND...

HE DIDN'T FLY OFF RIGHT AWAY,
ALTHOUGH THERE TO HIS SURPRISE,
WAS HIS MOTHER, FATHER AND BROTHERS,
PAINTING CIRCLES IN THE SKY...

HE TURNED HIS HEAD TO ME AS IF TO SAY,
I'LL MISS YOU VERY MUCH,
FOR ALL THE LOVE AND CARE YOU'VE GIVEN ME,
MY SPIRIT HAS BEEN TOUCHED...

BUT IT IS TIME FOR HIM TO GO,
AND JOIN HIS CLAN YOU SEE,
ONE DAY I MAY SEE HIM AGAIN,
SOARING IN THE CLOUDS,
RIGHT WHERE HE SHOULD BE.

THE END
