A
crowd of 80.000 attended this Stones gig.
We spend the night in the campingground
very near the "Draf- and Renbaan", where the concert took place. Except
for a few regular guests, only Stones fans on the camping. The night before
the concert and the night after the concert there were Stones parties
in the city, so not much sleep. We went to the entrance at 8 in the morning,
and we sat and drank all day until 5 p.m. when the gates opened. After
the sprint race (got a great condition after all those Stones concerts),
we had a great place in front of the catwalk in between the main- and
the small stage.
A short review. Opening Catatonia, raining cats and dogs. Crowd: 80.000.
Wheather: storm and thunder, pouring rain and sun. During the Stones concert
dry... Most impressive songs from my point of view: Paint it Black, Angie,
Out of Control, Saint of Me, Midnight Rambler (small stage) and us (80.000)
singing Happy Birthday for Charlie. Opening: Jumping Jack Flash, encore
Satisfaction. Great concert in a great city. Groningen was during one
month Stones crazy, on local television every day half an hour Stones
news, papers full of Stones, it really was Stones city. Dandelion has
a 2CD box called 'North to South, Happy birthday Charlie!', Live in Holland.
