This is our home. I know it may look a little crazy to most, but it's very normal to me. I may not look normal to most either, since I have Muscular Dystrophy and have to use a wheelchair to get around, but that also is very normal for me.
My family is very into board sports. They surf, sponge, skim, skate, snowboard, wakeboard, and anything else they can try with a board. My Mom and her boyfriend Jim own their own website, it's pretty popular, called Boardheads2.com.
We travel all over Florida and film board sport competitions and events. They make locals famous!
We own 16 skimboards (6 of them other people are borrowing so they can learn too), 7 bodyboards, 1 surfboard, 3 snowboards, 3 skateboards, and 1 indoboard. We know many famous board riders very well - Bill Bryan, Kelly Slater, Corey Lopez, Sunny Garcia, just about every pro skimboarder, alot of pro bodyboarders and many other sports people that we've met over the years. I have alot of their autographs and my family has alot of trophies from winning competitions themselves. We have alot of board sport videos and sports video games.
One day a couple years ago, I was on my way to meet Tony Hawk at our local skatepark, but my mom fell on the cobblestone in the street outside the park while she was pushing my chair and filming the park at the same time. She tore her wrist open pretty bad, so we had to leave. We could see him signing autographs through the fence. My mom says it's her 'Tony Hawk scar'. I heard he is comin back soon, so maybe I will meet him this year.
Alot of my friends never believe me that I know all these people until I show them pictures. I wish I could do what they do, but I love to just watch and cheer them on. At least my family includes me in as much as they can, I have been surfing, skateboarding, rollerblading, and indoboarding, all thanks to Jim holding me and taking me along. I can't wait to snowboard!
