It can be difficult finding comprehensive, easy to understand information on all
the various hormones available. When searching for information, I had to go to many
different sources, I've tried to put it all here on one page and will
be adding to it as I find more.
It is no wonder when seeking information on hrt that we become unsure of what is
best. The information is scattered, fragmented and just all over the place. Often
vague, sometimes presented in a theoretical or subjective manner. I, who
consider myself a pretty good researcher had difficulty finding "facts" on
the various hormones used for hrt, following is what I found. We could use a
comprehensive, easy to understand guide to hrt today.
To avoid any infringement of copyright law, I'm providing the links for direct
information on each hormone listed.
*A few definitions -
Esterified estrogens - This product is a mixture of sodium salts of sulfate esters
of natural estrogenic substances: 75%-85% estrone sodium sulfate and 6%-15% equilin
sodium sulfate. Less potent than estrone.

*Synthetic estrogen increases appetite, causes fluid retention, aggravates mood swings
and depression and localizes fat deposits on the hips and thighs. Synthetic
estrogen replacement should be avoided if there is a history of breast, bone
or uterine cancer, thrombosis, gallbladder or liver disease.
**I find this quite interesting since I was of normal size until I began synthetic
hormones (in the form of the strongest birth control pills made) at age 13 for
painful periods after that my hips and thighs got considerably larger, I always
knew synthetic hormones were a big part of the cause!

*There is sooo much hype about Progesterone and
progesterone cream it was very hard to find
factual information on natural progesterone. I
was overwhelmed at the web sites pushing to sell
natural progesterone cream, it must be a turn off
for many! I know it works though as it did for me,
early on post tah/bso (2-9 mos.) I was suffering
from hot flashes, night sweats and low libido,
progesterone cream eliminated all three of these
health effects, being without ovaries and no
hormone production, I believe progesterone alone
for a woman after oophorectomy is not enough, but
also that it is needed as are the complete
hormones that we lost.
