If we could praise like David did,
If we could lift our voices, bold and strong,
If we could lift our hands in gestures of praise,
If we could listen only to His special voice,
We'd find our answers were there all along
If we could put aside life's trials,
If we could stay our hearts in the heavenly realm,
not plagued by earth's denials;
to Him who willed us free,
If we could only hold His hand in ours,
and dwell in His majesty;
and worship - for He is Lord,
If we could draw each breath in prayer and praise,
and partake of His sweet reward;
that speaks of immeasurable love,
If we could just tune out the torment and pain,
and hear Him from above;
If only we had done as He bid,
And learned to praise and trust in Him
Just like David did.

"The Lord is my rock and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from mine enemies." Psalm18: 2-3
