Parakeets are also refered to as Budgies, which is short for Budgerigar, Keets,Undulated Grass Parakeets, Australian shell Parakeet, Zebra Parakeet, Warbling Grass Parakeet, Canary Parakeet and the Australian Love Bird.

They do talk, although it is more common in males. Keets come in all different colors. The colors are broken down into Normals, Albino, Lutino, Harlequin, Pied, Opaline, Pastel and Yellow Face.

The actual colors found in Normals are green, white, blue, blue-white and chartreuse. An albino is all white with no markings and pink eyes. A lutino is canary yellow with no markings and pink eyes. Harlequins are white and blue or yellow and green with spotted markings on the wings. A pied is usually blue, yellow or green markings on a white body. An opaline has a basic body color that covers from the head to the tail and an opal like sheen. The Yellow face is exactly what it implies, the top of the head and the face is yellow. Pastels include lavender, powder blue, pale yellow and pale green. With all the cross breeding that has occured with the different colors, there may be colors that are not mentioned here. I have not heard of the elussive "red" budgie to date. Please use this only as a guide and not as an absolute rule.
