Welcome to "Jeff's Weightlfting!"

Welcome to my Web site. You will find this site to be very informative about the great sport of Weightlifing. So please look around into the World of Weightlifing. If you have any ideas and/or comments/images please e-mail me. Thank you and come back as often as you need!

WHAT IS WEIGHT-LIFTING?

This is a sport where weights are lifted competitively, within prescribed rules. The athlete has to lift a barbell. This is a one-inch-thick seven-foot-long bar. To each end of this bar, disk- shaped weights are attached, which are no more than one and a half feet in diameter.

There are 5 types of lift which feature the sport.

MILITARY PRESS - The bar is first lifted from the floor to shoulder height, then rested on the chest, and held motionless for two seconds. It is then lifted vertically until the arms are completely extended and held there for two seconds, with the arms and the legs stiffened.

SNATCH - The weight is lifted overhead in one continuous motion without any pause characteristics, like there are in the military press.

CLEAN AND JERK - First the weight gets lifted to shoulder level, and then, the legs are bent, and then the legs and arms are suddenly stiffened, so that the weight can be brought overhead.

BENCH- Weight gets lowered down to chest and then pressed up.

DEAD LIFT- Lift the weight from the ground to just above the top of the knee.

Work hard and you will be rewarded!

I will tell you that weightlifting is a hard sport and what you put into it will decide what you get out of it. Dont take the cheap way out, stay drug free. And always take weightlifting serious. Some of the equitment you use can hurt you if you mess around. Use a spotter at all times.

Motto:Set goals, not limits on what you can do!!!
