According to Henry W. Owen: Joseph (Joseph, Nathaniel, William) Owen was born in Braintree 17 August 1720 and died there about 1759. He married 23 April 1742 Elizabeth Newcomb of Braintree. His name appears several times in the town records. An inventory of the estate of Joseph Owen of Braintree, blacksmith, deceased, amounting to £32 11s 11 1/2 d, dated 3 January 1760, was filed in connection with the appointment of Ebenezer Newcomb of Braintree as adminstrator on the 11th of the same month.
