ISOS Conception

By the year 3000 the Earth government had figured out that it was not economical to use large trucks and trailers over the road. As the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) had large tracts of land which ran across the United States began to create a cross country more energetically and economically sound safer method of Freight and human transportation system. After many designs were submitted by a great many enterprises hoping to gain access into the project several were selected and combined. A system designed many years ago by a Professor Overmeyer with new methodology and knowledge added. As Professor Overmyer had passed away in the early 2000’s his information was part of public domain and not subject to any royalties which made it that much more desirable to use for the Government. A system which utilized a combination of hovering systems and magnets for decreasing friction and increasing efficiency were being created then tried out in several different.

While this was all being done a project to build the over terrain carrier systems had begun. All of the support systems were being put up running down the middle of Interstate 10 which runs across the United States as the first part of the project. To ensure that D.O.T. freight and person transport would be utilized the entire Interstate 10 would be closed to traffic thus placing persons and freight in a position if they wanted direct transport across the United States at a rapid rate they would have to utilize D.O.T. transport. As it would be more economical but possibly not as convenient compliance had to be assisted. Most of the energy systems were beginning to be diverted towards developing space travel technologies at this time and any method to decrease fuel consumption and increase diversion of energies towards space technologies were being investigated and tried. The D.O.T. had been able to get permission for the across country Magna Hov projects by using the information they gained before and during creation towards space technologies. Success was very important. They had given the overall responsibility along with any failures blame to a very knowledgeable transportation developer and specialist.

What is even worse is the female project developer is going to get all of this side too because she recommended against my choices. What am I going to do for the people under me who have given up so much of themselves to ensure this project is a success.

Kyle Koffland sat at the edge of the swampy lake as the sun began to go down.. As he sat at the edge of the lake a large golden spot appeared in the lake and began to drift towards him. Out from the edge of the lake walked a very attractive woman probably in her late 20’s. He looked up and the moon had just started to rise in the night sky. He wondered how long he had been sitting there when the woman called out to him.

You could say that in a matter of sense. Just exactly how did you get here?

So just exactly what brings you to my neck of the woods?

I’m here with the D.O.T. project. We’ve been trying to put in supports here to no avail.

Oh anyone could have told you all that but no one would listen to us. Instead they just took our property for less than it was worth and decided to use it without studies. Why do you think I10 loops around like it does. The ground is more stable in those areas of Louisiana for the most part. I10 probably followed older trails that eventually were made into roads. Say do you think you could give me a ride back to the other side it is really a bit too dark for me to swim back safely across the lake.

I can drive you back?

Yeah its over to your right a little ways. If you have some sort of over the terrain type vehicle you can make it down it O.K..

There’s a road here?

Do you have a hearing problem or something. Look I’m getting cold if you don’t want to drive me back I’ll just walk.

Wait I have a four wheel drive truck here...just wait and I’ll get it started.

They both walked over to the truck. Kyle opened the door and let her get in.. Totally in awe of the way the girl looked he just stared at her for a minute. She was at least a head taller than he was and being above average in height he could not get over her height. She had these really large eyes that seemed to look right down into his soul. The color seemed to reflect everything around her that she looked at.

Well are we going to sit here all night or are we going to get back to my house before I catch my death of cold?

Kyle started the truck and followed her directions to the road and to the house. Even though the road was not very well made it was very solid. He realized as they drove down the road it would be just about what they needed for the system to continue being built..

Oh it kind of winds around back and forth until it goes over in one direction to the nearest town and another direction it goes back over to I10.

Kyle and the young lady whom he learned was named Lydia talked about a few things while Kyle was preoccupied with examining the course and direction of the road.

They stopped on the other side of the lake at a very large house. They both got out.

Do me a favor and don’t tell my parents you are with the D.O.T. project they are so furious because they are going to loose a part of the lake and it will be running right up against the house. They do so love their privacy so much.

Yes and most of it around here.

I do not know. I know that they would love the project moved over. They do so love the lake and their house. They don’t use the road too much anymore as they have started to work from the house and most of what they need they order in or pick up at the town nearby. Come on in and fix yourself something to eat and drink and I will talk to them.

A year and a half later Kyle Koffland tied the west coast to the east coast section of the Magna Hov transportation system. He was remembered in history as the person who connected the east coast with the west coast as he made it before the west coast did to the point they were to connect at.
