"Who decrees the moon and stars to shine.....
The Lord almighty is His name!"

a fragmented poem

Thee, God I come from, to thee go,
All day long I like fountain flow
From thy hand out, swayed about
Mote-like in thy mighty glow.

What I know of thee I bless,
As acknowledging thy stress
On my being and as seeing
Something of thy holiness.

Once I turned from thee and hid,
Bound on what thou hast forbid;
Sow the wind I would; I sinned:
I repent of what I did.

Bad I am, but yet thy child.
Father, be thou reconciled,
Spare thou me, since I see
With thy might that thou art mild.

I have life before me still
And thy purpose to fulfil;
Yea a debt to pay thee yet:
Help me, sir, and so I will.

But thou bidst, and just thou art,
Me shew mery from my heart
towards my bother, every other
Man my mate and counterpart.

-Gerard Manley Hopkins

Shalom, shalom

Once far, now near.
Wise men scoff,
while simple revere.
Rich men laugh
as missiles take aim,
But the poor of the earth
know the price of this game.
Once old, now new.
A word from God
through the lips of a Jew.
The prophets of old
see armies draw near,
In perilous times
when Messiah appears.
Once hate, now love.
From sword to plowshare.
From serpent to dove.
One God, One King.
Shalom, Shalom,
Peace will the Lamb bring.

This poem is by
a Messianic Jew.

Batter My Heart Three Personed God

Batter my heart Three Personed God; for you
As yet but knock, breathe, shine, and seek to mend;
That I may rise and stand, o'erthrow me, and bend
Your force to break, blow, burn and make me new.

I like an unsurped town to another due,
Labor to admit you, but oh to no end;
Reason, your viceroy in me, should defend,
But is captive, and proves weak or untrue.

Yet dearly I love you and would be loved fain,
But am betrothed unto your enemy;
Divorce me, untie or break that knot again,
Take me to you, imprison me, for I,
Except you enthrall me, never shall be free
Nor ever chaste except you ravish me.

-John Donne

Seven Thirty

7:30
someone swore I died
blackened room
alone I sighed
talked that night
for the last time
heard not again,
penalty of the crime
lonely days are here again
someone explain how it all began
11:30
could've sworn I died
lie awake,
take it all inside
the path to life
so easily gained
inside is felt
the first birth pangs

-John Freriks

Answer

Upon a day a question is ask
Upon a minute and answer is passed
A feeling deep within your heart
To be not torn or set apart
A will to live exist in day
A will to love in every way
A shout is cried by a tiny lark
A single candle brakes through the dark
what is seen is said to be
the answer that has eluded me
