Several seconds past before anybody realized that the blow that should have killed each of them and slowly looked around. Skan got up from his back and looked to both of his sides, then jumped when he noticed everybody else for the first time.
"What the Hell is going on here??" he asked, a little bit of fear in his voice.
Ittou reached into his pocket and pulled out an odd device that fitted over his ear. A translucent pink frame fit over his left eye from where the device perched on his ear. He pushed a button on the side of the device and looked at Skan. "Hmmm... power level 532."
As Ittou looked over to Z, Skan approached him curiously, asking him what kind of machine that was, and what a power level was. Ittou ignored him, regarding Jedra, who had a grip on his staff hard enough to make his knuckles white. "Power level 783... not bad," Ittou said. Then he looked over to Z, who was looking everybody else curiously. "Power level 0?? How is that possible, unless you are dead???"
Skan scowled at Ittou and looekd over at Z and Jedra, both who had remained quiet. He approached Z, and the Reploid, leapt back, drawing forth his Z-Sabre, a glowing sword of blue ionic energy, and holding it out in front of him protectively. Everybody looked at Ittou when his device, the Scouter, started beeping. "Power level 1007?? How could he go from 0 to over a thousand in just a few seconds!? This doesn't make any sense!!" Angrily, Ittou pocketed the Scouter, and everybody looked back and forth at each other, confused as to what was going no.
Jedra spoke next. "What... what is this?"
Skan ignored him and walked up to Z slowly. "That... that's a beam sword! How can you use one of those!? I never heard of anything less than Gear size having a reactor of enough power to maintain those! And I KNOW that handle doesn't fit a reactor in it." Skan crept a few inches closer, and with his other hand, Z pointed the arm cannon at him.
"Stay back, Hunter! I won't attack unless you hit me."
Skan ignored him. He was sure that cannon had been a hand a few minutes ago. Suddenly, it struck him, somethign he read in a book called The Maverick Wars. "Are you... A reploid??"
Jedra snorted. "That was a fantasy book, man. Just like it's next two sequels."
Skan blinked at Jedra. "There were more?"
Ittou shook his head. "What? Reploid? What's going on?"
Z thought for a moment then tucked his Z-Sabre away, the arm-cannon somehow turning back into a hand. "Yeah, I'm a Reploid. I guess you're not a Hunter, then?"
"How can you be a Reploid?" Jedra snapped. "They don't exist!"
"Reploid? Is that some kind of android?" asked Ittou.
Skan glanced over at him. "A Reploid is like an android, yes. But it can feel and make decisions."
"So can an android!"
"Like Hell!" said Skan. "Androids are robots meant to look like humans! REPLOID's are like androids, but they can think for themselves."
"Obviously you've never heard of Cell," muttered Ittou. He sat down on a rock, and looked up at Skan. "What are we doing here? Did any of you bring me here? I must say, thank you. It was in the nick of time!"
Skan shook his head. "No, I didn't. I can't use ANY magic. However, I would like to thank whoever did, too. I was THIS freaking close to getting mauled by a bug bear!"
Jedra frowned. "Two men broke in my house. When they attacked me, I fought back. Just as a sword bore down on me, I opened my eyes to come here."
Z shrugged, sitting down and leaning up against a tree, the only one seen for miles. "Same here, except there was a different threat. So, if no one here did this, who did?"
Skan began pacing back and forth. "Interesting... we all appeared here just before we would have suffered a fatal blow. We all don't use magic, we all have... power levels, and we are all confused. Otherwise, it seems we have noting in common!"
Ittou stood up and make a fist, grinning. "Well I aim to find out! My name is Ittou Hawatari. I was traied by Trunks, my father, and by King-Kai in the art of Kaio-Ken!"
"Um, sure," said Skan, not willing to admit he didn't understand a word. "Pleased to meet you, Ittou. I'm Skan Erreden, also known as 'the man'. OR the great one, whichever pleases you. Seriously, though. You can all feel free to laugh."
"No thanks," said Ittou with a slight grin. Z made a motion with his hand.
"My name is Z Omega. I'm an X-Hunter."
"An X-Hunter, huh?" asked Jedra, suddenly talking once more. "Aren't you the bad guy? You don't seem evil to me!" Then he lurched up, realizing he was the only person who hadn't introduced himself. "I'm Jedra Kayan. I, uh, havn't been trained or anything, I kind of taught myself how to use the staff." He lifted his weapon for emphasis. "Anyway, I think we should find something to do."
Skan looked around, not seeing anything. Then he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small pair of binoculars, making another sweep of the horizon. "There!" he said. He pulled down the binoculars and pointed to where he had seen something. "There's a city that way. I think we should go up there and see where we are. Then, we can go home!"
Ittou nodded, grinning. "Yeah! Yeah, why not!"
Z stood up, but remained leaning against the tree, his arms folded to his chest, and one leg folded over the other. "I guess. It wouldn't hurt to travel with company other than IX."
Jedra looked to where Skan had pointed, his hand making a sun block over his eyes. "Huh? Oh, the city. Yeah, sure, I guess. Sure."
"Alright!" said Skan, standing up as high as he could. "Then, I guess it's that way!"
The four of them walked together in a small group, towards the destination Skan had pointed out.
