The storyline is very complex and confusing, it took me a while to figure everything out, and like most people, I still am at a loss for one or two things. Like the ending (see my essay for my own thoughts on the FFT ending). An excellent mix of religious themes, political themes, and back-stabbing galore. You have no clue who's side Delita is on, until the very end, where it is shown that he uses everybody, including the main character and the main enemies, to get what he wants and become King Hyral. A position he worked up to from a normal commoner.
The characters are just as good as the plot. Well, except Ramza. Personally, I think he's a bit of a pansey (ordering milk at a bar?), and pretty annoying at times. Of course, he fights for honor and the like, never for personal gain, etc. Fortunately, he is the ONLY character to use this cliché. Delita, like I said, is a very, very cool character. An extremely strong fighter, and a person who knows exactly what he's doing to get what he wants. Everyone in this game rules.
And this game has the two most unbalancing characters in any game (well, since they're both at opposite sides, they balance each other...); Malak and Orlandu. Malak seems to be a monk, but without the abilities and strength. His abilities are very, very, VERY useless. The only reason I ever used him was because he looked cool (he did!). Orlandu, on the other hand... is just insane. He knows all the abilities of the greatest of the fighters, making them all useless. Not only that, but he has massive strength and speed and equipment. Just completely all powerful. You can almost beat the game with him and only him.
I highly suggest you get this game. It has a high replay value, a wonderful storyline, and Delita, the coolest character ever. What have you to lose?
