American Pride

By American pride, I don't mean how American's enjoy their country. Or how people feel about their country, not in the slightest. What I mean is how America feels towards itSELF.

That's right. This country may be rich and powerful, but it is very stuck up.

For one, it indirectly lies to us. How many people think, no, KNOW that America is a democracy? It makes us feel better, doesn't it? Knowing that WE are in direct control of everything this country does. It gives us a sense of power and makes us like the country a bit more.

What if I were to tell you we were a republic? Here's my proof. The peopel don't make up for EVERY SINGLE law passed or anything. All we do is vote for who DOES control this. Still not enough for you? How many people know the Pledge of Allegiance? Here, I'll recite it.

"I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America. And to the republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Look through that. See anything about democracy? No, but I'm sure you can find something about a REPUBLIC!

What my point is, America leads us to believe that we have more power than what we really do have so we like the country even better. Sad, huh? It get's better, trust me.

Name to me all the wars we had where America was the bad guy. Where not only did we prove amazing skills in military tactics, and had the advantage, but tried to INVADE a country, and actually lost. Go ahead, look in your history book.

I'll bet you didn't find anything, eh? Don't tell me that it never happened though! Directly after the Revolutionary War, America got cocky and wanted to expand it's territory through Canada. So, we attacked. And we had numerous advantages, but were beaten despite the odds. And the best thing is, this will not be found in any history book. Yeah, that's right! America is actually HIDING this fact from you!

Funny, huh? I think it's sad. What a snobby country!
