Weaponary/Powers
Jedra, being a Nord, was forced at birth to learn how to use a weapon as soon as he could hold it in his hands. The weapon of choice was a quarterstaff, with both sides cast in a foot of metal. Jedra is extremely skilled with the staff, and coupled with his inborn strength as a Nord, is a very competent opponent. But he is often out of practice, because, after leaving his family, deemed it neccessary only to use the weapon as a walking staff and a source of mere protection.
Also inherit is a natural resistance to the cold. Whether it be just the freezing temperature outside (though he is only resistant, not immune!) or cold of a magical nature, he is more resistant to it than normal people.

History
As stated above, Jedra was born into a family of Nords - normal humans with extreme fighting capabilities and unusual strength/resistance to cold - and was therefore trained at as young an age as possible in the art of stave fighting. Though he is exceptional with this weapon among "normal" people, Jedra is actually only mediocre among his fellow Nords. Because since birth, he was not the, as he considers them, barbaric warrior his family is. Jedra is, in all aspects, a scholar. He is more interested in books than in battle, and was often ridiculed among his friends for it. He was glad when, upon reaching the age of 20, he was a man among Nord culture and allowed to leave the town.
Jedra took up temporary residence in Wayrest, a country far to the south. It was chilly down there for most people's standards, but not at all cold compared to the harsh lands where he's come from. Since Jedra could not afford a house at the moment, he settled for buying a horse named Page and a wagon in which he carried around his now extensive library of books. In time, Jedra's horse-drawn wagon had been named "Jedra's Library", as many townsfolk would borrow books from it. But he never sold or gave any away - only let people borrow them. Most people usually liked him and returned the books... some liked him enough to return those books that somebody had tried to steal. And so went life for several years.
After a while, his reputation spred. The King of Wayrest sent an official request for several of Jedra's books. Jedra, honored to have been asked such a favor, could not refuse. The very day he packed up the necessary books and left for the castle, however, was the day somebody tried to take over the throne.
Jedra was knocked out and tied up in the throne room, along with the King, Queen, and Princess of Wayrest. Killing one of the three elite soldiers who had so far successfully taken over, Jedra made his escape. Until he noticed, that one of the men had stolen a book of his. Not wanting to lose his favorite book, Jedra went back into the castle, killed the man, and left again. The guards had killed the third and final one - and Jedra was proclaimed a hero. He chose not to be knighted (as he did what he did for a book, not for his country, and he detests fighting so much), but was instead rewarded with a large house and an inexpensive printing press. It was here that Jedra's wished of writing a book came true.

Miscellaneous Jedra does not like to fight, even if he is not a pacifist, which often makes him shunned by his fellow Nord. The Nordic people are almost all soldiers; seeing somebody like Jedra choose to read and study instead of battling is enough to anger many Nordic warriors. Therefore, Jedra stays as far as possible from his own family and sub-race. However, he is secretly proud to be Nordic, and never tries to hide his heritage.

OOC Notes
This guy's pretty cool... I use him in games such as Daggerfall, Ultima Online, AD&D, etc... he's also the star of my best story, Jedra's Library. Most people think it's my best, anyway.
Well, I like him, he's fun to roleplay =)
