Few people are capable of actual thought. I mean, actually thinking about things. I have a friend who is an atheist because me and another friend of mine are. That is freaking stupid. What is the point?
By "thought", I mean, people who think for themselves. Everybody plays a role in life, especially children. We stand up every morning and are forced to recite a chant, called the "Pledge of Allegience", without even knowing what half of it means. We accept things because the textbook says they're correct. Although, a thousand years past, "the textbook" said that the world was flat. How can people so readily accept information that something says, knowing that people accepted WRONG information hundreds of years ago? Who's to say this information is correct?
I like to pride myself on being able to think. In fact, I thought I could ever since I became an atheist. Until I found out, only a month or two ago, that I became an atheist just to be different. I now DO believe in atheism, but it sickens me that, when I was convinced I could "think", I was just doing something on a much shallower scale. Who's to say I'm actually thinking, now?
Well, despite whether or not I really am... I do believe it's true (geez, hope that wasn't too confusing fer ya ^_~). I have four people to thank for this, only two (actually... only one, probably) who really even knows what they've done.
The first is George Orwell. I've only read one of his "thought" books (I plan to read 1894), Animal Farm. About how a bunch of animals were convinced that "Jones was bad, animals good", etc. "Four legs good, two legs better".
The second person is actually a substitute teacher of mine, who I'd be surprised if he still knew my name. Mr. Rob, he was. Talked about similar things in my rants - he first had me questioning religion and conformity. Actually, he spoke to the point where he almost got fired. But, Mr. Rob, if you're reading this - continue teaching people how to think, not how to memorize facts for a few weeks.
The third and fourth two people should not be grouped together, as they helped me in different ways. One of them, Razzyne, is actually the primary reason I'm an atheist. Just by looking over her pages, I thought "Hey... she's got a point!". For that, I thank you deeply. The fourth, aRkRiSt taught me a variety of things, mostly on school systems, religion, and soem of George Orwell's works.
You guys rule!
Well, that's my rant of the day. A look inside my head. Some things may be insulting, some not, but I don't wanna hear about it. You chose to read, you got what you deserved then. If you can't handle opinions, then... then...
Kamitsuki Watashi!
