SOUTHERNHAWK'S AMERICAN BULLDOGS

The above picture is my daughter Michellene with my American Bulldogs -
Razorback's Webster and Something Special Delectable Gritsy

I am a PETSITTER....and to be honest...this is the BEST job that I have ever had! I take care of pets while their 'parents' are away...whether it is for a vacation or a business trip....I am there to take them for their walks, feed them and to play with them. This way the pet is not in a kennel...alone and in a strange environment! Don't get me wrong....kennels are ok....if that is what you have to have...but try a Petsitter sometime....you will see a difference in your Pet when you come home! So.....if you are in the Tampa Bay Area...and in need of a Petsitter...just email me....if I can't help you....I am sure I can find a Petsitter that will be able to. I not only take care of your Pet while you are away....but will take care of your houseplants, and pick up your mail...and all those nasty flyers that are left in your driveway.

I will not take this down...Sandor was My True Friend!
Today is the saddest day for me...my BEST FRIEND has gone to Doggie Heaven. Yes, Sandor died...the tumors were ravishing her body. There will never be another Sandor...she is one of a kind! A GENTLE GIANT...loving unconditionally. I miss her, Webster misses her, and I believe the people that knew her, will miss her too. But I know she is still watching over me...and one day, we will meet again.
GOD BLESS YOU SANDOR, I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU

UPDATE

November 2008

FEBRUARY 7, 1977 - DECEMBER 1, 2008

I let my Best Friend pass on to the Rainbow Bridge today. Webster would have been 12 years old February 2009. He was my Guardian, my Protector at all times, but most of all my Friend. He loved me unconditionally. And he was loved so much. He never let me down. I held him in my arms as he took his last breath...telling him how much I loved him. For me, there will never be another male American Bulldog like Webster...he was one of a kind. His SPIRIT will live in my heart Forever.

Southernhawk's Gritsy
July 3, 1999 - November 2002
I LOVE MY GRITS... and I will always miss your sweet kisses.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

OOPS, I ALMOST FORGOT SOMEONE...

NO, you are not seeing things...this is NOT an American Bulldog....this is my GREAT DANE...
INTRODUCING...

SOUTHERNHAWK'S ALLEY OOP

I always knew I would get another GREAT DANE...and here she is...what a character! NOTHING like my last Dane, Sandor...calm, quiet, never got into anything!!! Alley has the personality of a KID...24/7!!! And boy, can she make me laugh. The above picture is of Alley Oop and her Mom...Alley is 8 weeks old in that picture...my how she has grown!

GREAT MEETS GRAND!

Lauren is my Granddaughter. She is 9 months old and wants so very much to play with Alley. If ONLY Alley wasn't so darn big! ;-) One day, Lauren will be riding her...I just know it!

UPDATE 2007

Two years ago, I was contacted by a Great Dane rescue asking me if I could go rescue a Dane for them..."but of course" was my reply. "DRAKE" was and had been at a boarding kennel for over 6 weeks. Needless to say, at the time I picked him up he weighed close to 140 pounds...he now weighs 160 pounds. I was asked if I wanted to be his 'forever' home...well, what do you think? Drake is in his 'forever' home and loves his AlleyOop...and his yard, and his Mom!
