RED HORSE AT TAEGU AIR BASE, KOREA
The top story is the Taegu Red Horse Command Office and Taegu Red Horse Break Room. The bottom floor is the Taegu Red Horse Carpenter Shop.
This is a modular dorm that some of our Red Horsemen called home while working at Taegu Air Base. The others lived in modulars at the bottom of the hill from the NCO Club.
One of our taskings at Taegu was to concrete between the Base Fire Station and the Transit Alert Office. Here we are installing a drainage system for this project. That is me standing there with my hands on my hips with the big belly. Guess I had the cooks make too many blueberry pies while we where at Taegu. Sure like those blueberry pies though.
In this photograph a Concrete Dial-A-Mix Trailer is being used to mix concrete for drop boxes on the drainage system. Again you can see me in the picture sitting on my bycycle. The bycycle gave me exercise getting around to the three projects I had going at Taegu.
We set this camp site up at the bottom of the hill from the NCO Club. We had our own Mess Hall set up also in this area, plus we had maid service for our hard working Horsemen. Our Red Horse Commander wanted us to deploy to Taegu Air Base under field conditions and live in tents. Kind of dumb if you ask me since we had these modulars made up and setting down with Detachment# 1 at Kunsan. So I made arrangements to have them moved to Taegu for our troops to live in. Probably lucky for me that our Colonel (The Red Horse Commander) was being transferred to Hickham AFB, Hawaii with PACAF. However it was better for cohesion with my work force having them sleeping in air conditioned modulars where mesquitos wouldn't be knawing on them all night after a hard days work on our three projects at Taegu. It kept them under control, that is for sure. Take care of your men and they will take care of you.......
