This is some of the Triple Nickel Red Horsemen training in the bivowac area in Dec 1965 at Cannon AFB, New Mexico. This tent didn't go so good. It fell back down after being erected.

When we were in the field and didn't have a mess hall set up we were issued "C" Rations. Inside the "C" Rations box you would find your daily Accesesary Packet like the one pictured above on the left and also a "P38" can opener pictured above on the right. These items were a big part of our field meals. Especially if you smoked, drank coffee, and wanted to open your canned "C" rations.
This picture was taken at Cannon AFB, New Mexico in December 1965 and shows Triple Nickel Horsemen waiting in line at the Chow Hall Tent. Food is always good when you are in the field.

In this picture Pennyshort Horsemen are learning to shoot the grenade launcher at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. Picture was taken in August 1974. This was the last formal training that any Horsemen received prior to going to South East Asia.
In this picture the 554th Horsemen are receiving M-60 Machine Gun Training at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. The picture was taken in August 1974. Only Horsemen that were to be assigned to Airfields at Utapao Air Base, Thailand received this training. Don't know if any of the other AFSCs' received any Red Horse Training at other bases during this time frame.
This is "Silver Flags" Red Horse. It was placed on display for Tyndall Air Force Base's Open House/Air Show on March 21 & 22, 1999. Silver Flag is a contingency training site for Air Force Civil Engineering & Food Services for "Prime Beef Teams" and "Prime Ribs Teams" throughtout the world. Training is conducted be Red Horse Personnel that are assigned to Det# 1, 823 Red Horse Squadron.
