THE ZOMBIE LIBRARY

I've made it a goal to collect every single zombie movie ever made. This is my collection. All films are for sale or available for trade. However, due to copyright laws I'd prefer not to sell any film unless it is not available elsewhere. Search the internet for these films first and see if you can get them new elsewhere before resorting to dubs. As an author, I agree with copyright laws and don't want to steal money from the filmmakers who produce this work. BUT if a film is no longer available elsewhere I want to make sure you, the zombie movie fan, are able to get a copy. This way, everybody wins and nobody loses.

I charge $10 a film plus $3 shipping. Shipping is free if you want 2 or more films. I accept paypal at address publisher@eraserheadpress.com

If there are any other hard to find movies you are looking for of any kind I might be able to find them for you. Email me if you have any questions at ehpress@aol.com.

AFTER DEATH - 1988
A woman goes back to the island her parents were killed at. They were working on a cure for cancer and accidentally raised the dead by angering a voodoo priest. With her is a group of mercenaries and they meet up with some researchers. They raise the dead again and all hell breaks loose.
Comments: zombies are stronger than people in this movie, making it seem more like an Evil Dead style zombie movie. People love this one though so check it out. Quality is poor but watchable.

ANTROPOPHOGUS 2 - 1982
(aka Grim Reaper 2)
Priest comes to small town to help get rid of a flesh-eating gorey living dead creature that stalks the streets for human prey.
Comments: A classic gorefest.

ASTRO-ZOMBIES - 1969
After being fired from the Space Agency, the disgruntled (not to mention crazy) Dr. DeMarco creates an Astroman from a criminal's dead body. However, he loses control of his creation, which goes on a killing spree, attracting the attention of an international spy ring and the CIA.
Comments: only for lovers of bad movies

ATTACK OF THE REDNECK MUTANTS - 1986
Low budget film from the 80s about some rednecks who turn into zombies because the ozone layer is deteriorating.
Comments: Horrible story but there are flesh-eating zombies in this film and that's all that really matters. Not even slightly as good as Redneck Zombies, but it is very similar in quality and theme.

BACK FROM HELL - 1993
A priest visits an old friend, who has gone to Hollywood to become a movie star. He finds out that his friend has sold his soul to Satan for stardom and now regrets it. The priest determines to help his friend fight the devil and regain his soul.
Comments: The guy who did Necro Files did this. It is kind of like Versus since the first third of the movie is spent battling zombies. But after that the zombies become less important than other conflicts. Still worth checking out.

BEAST OF THE DEAD - 1970
A mad scientist creates a monster, but after its head is cut off, he keeps it alive in a serum he has invented.
Comments: perfect for lovers of bad movies.

BIKER ZOMBIES FROM DETROIT - 2001
Biker Zombies From Detroit is a horror/comedy contrasting the dark deadly streets of outer Detroit against the posh and protected upscale community of Grosse Pointe. A series of horrific murders are committed in the Detroit area. Now it seems an evil darkness has descended onto the streets of Grosse Pointe, and hidden within is the wrath of 'Biker Zombies from Detroit'! Ken Yargeau and his mother Francis relocate from the quaint rural town of Hell, Michigan to the exclusive Detroit suburb of Grosse Pointe. Ken quickly has a rude awakening when he meets the local high school pretty-boys and is immediately spurned by his peers. However, Courtney Goodwyn the local sweetheart finds herself attracted to the new guy in town. And promptly dumps her pretty-boy wannabe boyfriend, Chad Porter. Meanwhile on the gritty nocturnal streets of Detroit, an evil force has returned and begins constructing a modern day army of Zombie warriors. His new generals are here to recapture a world that was stolen from him many eons ago. The leather clad Dark Knights hit the streets on thunderous chrome steeds slaughtering any who stand before them! The final battle begins when the last General is inducted into their ranks and infiltrates Grosse Pointe, the Achilles heel of our self-obsessed society.

THE BEYOND
(aka The Seven Doors of Death)
The cellar of an old hotel is built on top of the door to the beyond. Bloody zombies roam there. A young woman who is heir of the hotel wants to restaurate it. She is confronted with strange events. A painter has a lethal fall, the plumber vanishes and her friend breaks his neck. When she escapes to the hospital of a friendly doctor she doesn't know what a nightmare is waiting there...
Comments: Fulci's masterpiece is not to be missed.

BIO-COPS - 2000
CIA Anent Harry is bitten by a man who was part of a deadly experiment involving the ability to withstand pain. The bacterium has a virus, causing the victim to become a zombie. Upon Harry's arrival in Hong Kong, after rejection from his ex-girlfriend, the virus begins to take effect. He kills a call girl and is arrested after a gang fight. When he is in prison, Harry transforms into a Zombie King and transforms nearly an entire Triad gang into his personal horde. Soon, the police department becomes a House of the Dead. It's up to a police officer named Marco, Harry's ex, and a Triad member named Cheap to stop them before it's too late.
Kick ass zombie movie that is utterly entertaining. Fans of Bio-Zombie can't pass this up.

BIO-ZOMBIE - 1998
Hong Kong's answer to George Romero's Dawn Of The Dead. A soft drink tainted with bio- chemicals has the power to turn people into flesh-eating zombies. A man drinks from the bottle, and wanders into the night. As two young VCD sellers (Woody Invincible and Crazy Bee) from a local mall are returning to the mall with their bosses' car, they hit the man. Unsure of what to do, they bring the man back to the mall with them. The mall closes, and soon there are zombies everywhere! A small group of mall employees must bond together to try and fight their way out.
Comments: one of the best zombie movies ever made. Tape quality is below average but it creates a sort of haze that actually enhances the atmosphere of this film. I actually recommend getting bootlegs of this film over the DVD (which might still be available at online stores) but then I'm pretty weird . . .

BLACK DEMONS - 1991
Umberto Lenzi tries to do the best out of a rather old fashioned story about voodoo rituals that - yes - wake the dead. So the demons are rather zombies, but they don't eat their victims - they just split their skulls with axes and/or gouge out their eyes with hooks.
Comments: For obsessed zombie freaks and euro horror fanatics only.

BLOODSUCKERS FROM OUTER SPACE - 1984
Farmers in Texas become mindless bloodsucking zombies.
Comments: low budget b-movie fans will love it, zombie fanatics might be able to sit through it, but everyone else will hate it.

THE BONEYARD - 1991
Children turned into zombies wreak havoc in a coroner's building with just a burned-out psychic (Deborah Rose), an experienced cop (Ed Nelson) and two coroners (Phyllis Diller and Norman Fell) to stop the madness.

BOWERY AT MIDNIGHT - 1942
Kindly soup kitchen operator and professor of criminology Bela Lugosi uses his soup kitchen as a front for a criminal gang who commit a series of daring robberies and murders. When things get out of hand, Lugosi kills his henchmen, who wind up as zombies in the cellar of the soup kitchen.

BRAIN DEAD - 1992
(aka Dead Alive)
A poisonous "rat monkey" is taken from a desert island to a zoo in New Zealand. Lionel takes his girlfriend Paquita there. His pain-in-the-ass mother follows him, probably suffering from some kind of reverse Oedipus complex. She is bitten by the monkey and gradually turns into a zombie. Then she goes around hunting people, and everybody she bites also turn into zombies. Lionel has bigger and bigger problems fighting the zombies and hiding them from Paquita and the rest of the world. Finally, Lionel and Paquita get into a fight with hundreds of zombies during a party at Lionel's home.
Comments: If you don't already have this you have a serious problem.

BURIAL GROUND - 1980
A professor opens a crypt and reanimates rotten zombies. The zombies attack a jet-set-group which is celebrating a party in a villa nearby...
Comments: One of my favorite zombie movies. It seems to cross Night of the Living Dead with Tombs of the Blind Dead. And the midget playing the little boy is just classic.

BUTTCRACK - 1998
Don’t look at his buttcrack or you’ll turn into a zombie! This indie comedy available from Troma is about a fat buttcrack-showing guy who accidentally gets killed by his roommate. Then he is raised from the dead by his voodoo sister and forced to take his revenge. Only he doesn’t really want to take his revenge, he’d rather just hang out and play atari. Mojo Nixen plays the bible-thumbing zombie-blasting Preacher Man Bob.
Comments: most unique zombie comedy ever.

CARNIVAL OF SOULS - 1962
A girl is haunted by the living dead after almost drowning.
Comments: Wonderful old movie. I have the European uncut COLORIZED version of this film as well. It is worth checking out.

CASTLE OF THE CREEPING FLESH - 1967
In an ancient castle, a mad scientist is trying to revive his dead daughter by an operation, but there are certain body parts he needs that he can't get. His problem is solved when a group of drunken party-goers stumble into his castle.

CHILDREN OF THE LIVING DEAD - 2001
In 1987 serial murderer and rapist Abbot Hayes disappeared from the morgue. Shortly afterwards, a zombie plague swept his hometown and many lost their lives in the ensuing battle. Now, fourteen years later, the aging residents of the town are trying to erase all traces of their past. But the arrival of a businessman who relocates the bodies of the local cemetery into a mass grave so he can build a car dealership riles up Abbot, who sets out to create his own army of the undead and take over.
Comments: The beginning and end rule but why does the middle suck so bad?

CHILDREN SHOULDN’T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS - 1972
(aka Zombie Graveyard)
Actors led by Alan Ormsby go to graveyard on remote island to act out necromantic ritual. The ritual works, and soon the dead are walking about and chowing down on human flesh.
Comments: The first zombie movie I ever watched. To me it is just as much THE zombie classic as Night of the Living Dead.

THE CHILLING - 1989
The bodies at a cryogenic centre are defrosted by accident and turn into cannibalistic zombies.
Comments: Dan Haggerty and Linda Blair realize their careers can't get any lower than this. This movie is actually very watchable for the zombie fanatic. It is like a half-assed version of Return of the Living Dead without the humor, but good enough for me to watch it a dozen times.

CHOPPER CHICKS IN ZOMBIE TOWN - 1989
The title should be enough to explain the plot here. Riding around on their motorbikes, a gang of tough women bikers are the only thing that stands between a crowd of Zombies, which have been accidentally let out of their secure cave (!), and those still alive in the town.
Comments: this movie proves that zombies can be kooky wacky fun.

C.H.U.D. II: BUD THE CHUD - 1989
A military experiment to create a race of super-warriors go awry, and legions of murderous zombies are unleashed upon a surburan neighborhood.
Comments: This is like Encino Man meets Return of the Living Dead. It has nothing to do with the first movie and many people hate this film, but it is still a must-have for every zombie fanatic.

CITY OF THE DEAD
300 years old! Human blood keeps them alive forever!

CITY OF THE WALKING DEAD - 1980
(Nightmare City)
TV news reporter Dean Miller waits at the airport for the arrival of a scientist that he is about to interview. There, an unmarked military plane makes an emergency landing. The plane doors open and dozens of zombies burst out stabbing and shooting military waiting outside. Miller tries to let the people know of this event, but General Murchison of Civil Defense will not allow it. Then, Miller tries to find his wife and escape from the blood-thirsty zombies that are all over the city.
Comments: Cheesy and horrible but owning it is mandatory.

CREATURE OF THE WALKING DEAD - 1960
Mad scientist brings his dead mad scientist grandfather back to life. Apart from a few moldering corpses and a mad scientist in gloopy make-up, nothing actually happens in this film.

CREATURE WITH THE ATOM BRAIN - 1955
An ex-Nazi mad scientist uses radio-controlled atomic-powered zombies in his quest to help an exiled American gangster return to power.

CURSE OF THE BLUE LIGHTS - 1988
A group of teenagers battle a horde of zombies and evil creatures that live underneath a graveyard.
Comments: A ghoul with stretchy arms always comes to mind when I think of this movie. Everyone but the extremest of zombie fanatics can live without seeing this one.
CURSE OF THE LIVING CORPSE - 1964
Relatives gather in an old house for the reading of a will, but the "dead" man comes back to life and starts killing.

CURSE OF THE LIVING DEAD - 1981
(AKA Don't Go Near The Park)
In the prehistory of man, 12,000 years ago, two members of a superhuman tribe abuse the treasured secret of eternal youth. They use the methods of ritual cannibalism on the children of their own tribe and when discovered by the 'Queen' of the tribe, they are cursed to an eternity of old age with no chance to ever die. Now, in present day Los Angeles, their only hope to recapture eternal youth is the ritualistic sacrifice of a 16-year-old female virgin. Their existence is discovered by an investigative reporter and a young runaway child and this leads to an unexplained and terrifying confrontation.
Comments: A not so great living dead drama similar to Living Dead Girl or Virgin Among the Living Dead.

CURSE OF THE SCREAMING DEAD - 1982
(aka Curse of the Cannibal Confederates)
A group of Southern deer hunters stop at a church graveyard in the woods. Their activities arouse the corpses of long-dead Confederate soldiers, who kill and eat them.
Comments: the majority of this film includes long scenes of zombies eating guts and the rest is horrible acting. In other words: Highly recommended.

THE DARK POWER - 1985
After an Indian medicine man dies, his house, which was built over the graves of four Indian sorcerers becomes a sorority home for a group of girls. Once the four Indians are awakened and terror ensues, a park ranger learns of the Indian's evil and plans to stop them.
Comments: This is a huge fan favorite among zombie movie fans. Not sure why. I think it is so-so. But many say it is in the league with Dead Alive!?!

DAWN OF THE DEAD (composite) - 1978
(Aka Zombi)
This sequel to the Romero film was even better than the first. It has more zombies in it than any film to date. I wish more movies were made like this one. There has yet to be a better zombie movie than this film, though it only breaks the surface of the genre.
Comments: THIS IS THE LONGEST VERSION AVAILABLE IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. This edition is only available through bootlegs.

DAWN OF THE MUMMY - 1981
A group of fashion models disturb the tomb of a mummy and revive an ancient curse. Along with the mummy rising, hundreds of zombie slaves who were buried in the desert thousands of years before, also rise, with a craving for human flesh.
Comments: Excellent zombie movie that is not at all a mummy movie. Classic Euro horror.

DAY OF THE DEAD - 1985
The third film in the trilogy. Some say it is the best, others say it is the worst. Romero wanted it to be his best, but it didn’t satisfy him enough. Now he has to make another film if anyone will give him enough money for it. This is probably the most zombie-plagued movie ever made. Too bad all zombie movies aren’t based in the world of Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead. This movie could have been the best thing ever made, but I think it wasn’t as good as the first two films. Still excellent of course.
Comments: if you don't already own this, wha is your problem?

DEAD CREATURES - 2001
The sequel to I, Zombie about a group of girls in the flesh-eating undead urban underground. Yet another great zombie drama about living corpses trying to get by as their minds and bodies slowly rot away.
Comments: Just as good as the first film. Artsy and sad and sick.

THE DEAD DON’T DIE - 1974
In the 1930s, a sailor trying to prove that his brother was wrongly executed for murder discovers that living corpses plague the streets at night killing people.
Comments: eerie atmosphere is the highlight of the film. Not great, but worth checking out.

THE DEAD HATE THE LIVING - 1999
When a renegade band of young filmmakers break into an abandoned hospital to make their horror epic, they stumble upon a real dead body and decide to use it in their movie. They accidentally bring it back to life, open a portal to a dead world that releases dozens of other zombies, then struggle for their lives in a desperate attempt to flee from the creatures who apparently have them hopelessly trapped in the hospital.
Comments: I went from hating this film to loving it. I wish they'd make a sequel set completely in the world of the dead. Highly unique film that makes Full Moon movies worth watching again.

DEAD HEAT - 1988
Roger Mortis and Doug Bigelow are cops that are chasing crooks that are dead serious about crime. Or should I say they are chasing dead crooks perpetrating serious crimes? Seems some nutcase has learned how to bring back the dead and is sending them on crime sprees. Now these indestructable goons are in the way of officers Mortis and Bigelow. To even things up, when Mortis is killed (in the line of duty, of course) he gets a jump start from the Resurrection machine and takes the fight to the zombie bad guys.
This movie is a classic just because of the undead scene in the butcher shop where all of the meat products attack.

DEAD INN
A couple are murdered and then return from the grave to rampage their killers.

DEAD KIDS
Some kids get murdered by an undead scientist or something like that (haven't really watched it all). Not to be confused with the mind-control zombie movie: "Strange Behavior".

DEAD MEN DON’T DIE - 1990
A reporter investigating a drug dealing ring is murdered. Brought back to life by the voodoo spell of a cleaning woman, he goes after his killers
Comments: if you like 80s comedy, then this voodoo zombie comedy is for you.

DEAD MEN WALK - 1943
The twin of a kindly small-town physician returns from the grave for vengeance against his brother, who secretly killed him because the twin served Satan.

THE DEAD NEXT DOOR - 1988
The government sets up a Zombie squad after an epidemic has made the world run rampant with living corpses. Raimi, Mercer, Kuller, and others head off to Ohio to try and find a cure to the epidemic but soon run into a crazy cult of zombie lovers who are set on preserving the zombies and letting a new world be born because they believe that it's God's will. When Mercer gets infected with the zombie virus, Raimi and the others must work quickly to find a cure and avoid the cult.
Comments: One of the most popular indie zombie films out there.

THE DEAD PIT - 1989
A renegade doctor is shot dead and entombed with his fiendish experiments in the basement of an abandoned wing of a mental hospital. Twenty years later, a mysterious woman is admitted with amnesia, and her arrival is marked by an earthquake - which cracks the seal to the Dead Pit, freeing the evil doctor to continue his work of killing the patience and reviving them as flesh- hungry zombies.
Comments: The undead doctor does all the killing and the zombies just kind of chase after everyone but don't actually catch them. So the zombies are kind of out of place, but hey they should throw rampaging zombies into all movies for no reason at all.

DEAD THINGS - 1986
Another Todd Sheets movie, but this one is called “Pulp Fiction meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. All the psychos turn out to be zombies at the end, so that makes it a zombie movie kind of. Pretty good low budget gore horror flick, but definitely does not touch the Zombie Bloodbath films.

DEATH CURSE OF TARTU - 1966
A group of students on an archaeology assignment in the Everglades decide to throw a dance party one night. The spot they choose happens to be the burial site of an ancient Indian medicine man named Tartu. He returns from the dead to take his revenge on those who desecrated his grave site.

DEATHDREAM - 1972
(aka the night andy came home)
A young man killed in Vietnam unexplainedly returns home as a zombie.
Comments: A great zombie drama. Like I, Zombie and Living Dead Girl. But this was the first of them. Check it out.

DEATH LINE - 1972
(aka Raw Meat)
At the turn of the century, a group of diggers were lost during a cave-in of part of the London Underground tube-train network. They managed to live for a lifetime trapped in a crevice, but now there is only one family left. The half-human father heads to the Underground station to pick off lone passengers for food, while a London police detective investigates the mysterious disappearances.
Comments: I think they are just deformed humans and not really zombies but people always call this a zombie film for some reason. Watch it if you have to.

DEATH METAL ZOMBIES - 1995
(aka Dead Rock Zombies)
Super low budget film that has tougher music than Hard Rock Zombies. It has utterly horrible acting and worse writing, but it is an okay zombie movie. It involves a death metal song that turns metallers into rampaging corpses. It is in the league with the Zombie Rampage movies, but not at all as good as Zombie Rampage.
Comments: The worst of the shot on video zombie movies, but a must have for sure. Lots of Relapse Records music, including everyone's favorite band: Anal Cunt.

DEATH ROW DINER - 1988
An executed prisoner comes back from the dead with an appetite for human flesh.

DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE - 1994
(aka Cemetery Man)
This movie is based on a novel of Tiziano Sclavi, and it always reflects the "sclavian philosophy" diffused by the most succesful comics in Italy: Dylan Dog, the detective of the nightmare. There is the duality between love and dead (in Italian "dellamore" means "of love" and "dellamorte" means "of death"), a duality that Dellamorte feels in a really hard way. He is the guardian of the cemetery of Buffalora, a little town in the north of Italy, in which, we don't know why, corpses rise from tombs and Dellamorte has to destroy them. Dellamorte seems not to ask to himself why this happens, he shoots and loves. But at the end he wants to leave Buffalora...
Comments: My personal favorite out of all zombie movies. Mostly because of it is so surreal and smart. I love it.

ED AND HIS DEAD MOTHER - 1993
A mourning son makes a deal to reanimate his one year dead mother, however things turn into an unexpected direction.
Comments: Steve Buscemi makes this movie watchable but it is pretty badly done. It is just a comedy (not a horror comedy) and isn't really funny whatsoever. They should have gotten Peter Jackson to direct it.

EROTIC NIGHTS OF THE LIVING DEAD - 1980
A sailor takes an American businessman and his girlfriend to an island where the businessman wants to build a resort. Soon a weird voodoo couple show up and warn them of bad things that are going to happen. It doesn't take long for the zombies to show up and start chowing down on human flesh. The main characters do manage to fit in quite a bit of sex though.
Comments: Part porn, part flesh eating gore. Great idea but could have been better. It comes in Italian with no subtitles. The quality is bad because the original film has deteriorated. But don't let that stop you since it only adds to the atmosphere. Actually, the bad quality of the film is what makes me love this movie so much.

FEMALE MERCENARIES ON ZOMBIE ISLAND
Indie movie that is supposed to be about zombies of the post-apocalypse, but is more about sexy girls in skimpy clothing. Sure the girls look great but the zombies are lame. They are just undead men that an evil scientist uses as war machines. Though they look and act like normal men. Go figure.
Comments: Tina Kraus fans buy this more than zombie movie fans.

FLESH FREAKS
A college-made movie about some Mayan corpses brought onto a university campus only to come alive and eat people.
Comments: There aren’t many characters and the beginning is far too long, but this is still a great movie for zombie fanatics.

FLESH FEAST - 1970
A ring of Nazis in Florida is in possession of the body of Adolf Hitler, and plan to revive him so they can take over the world.
Comments: are there zombies in this? I can't find them. But it is still considered a zombie movie.

FRANKENSTEIN ISLAND - 1981
When a hot-air balloon crashes on a remote island, the crew discovers Dr. Frankenstein's ancestor carrying on the family work, along with a race of mutants and a population of Amazons.

GAMMA 693 - 1981
(aka Night of the Zombies 2)
Investigators search for soldiers' missing bodies, and hear unbelievable rumors about zombies. Dismissing those rumors they set out to investigate. After two men are found dead, CIA special- agent Nick Monroe (Jamie Gillis) is sent to flush out what are suspected to be deserters from the old U.S. Army Chemical Corps unit. Nick's ruthless investigation uncovers a ghoulish plot of world domination, but first he must escape the horror that does not want to be known...yet!
Comments: ACtually pretty decent, but not as good as the directors other movie "Blood Sucking Freaks" ... worth a watch though.

GATE OF HELL
Another Blind Dead spinoff about a bunch of scientists who get trapped deep underground where they find the burial ground of an ex-satanic cult that plans on raising form the dead to kill them all in stupid ways.
Comments: It is ectremely great for a horror suspense film. I thought it was pretty tense to watch the first time. The zombies are not like the blind dead at all. That would have made this a must-have zombie movie rather than a so-so one.

GATES OF HELL - 1980
(aka City of the Living Dead)
In the small New England town of Dunwich, a priest commits suicide by hanging himself in the church cemetary which somehow opens the gates of hell allowing the dead to rise. Peter, a New York City reporter, teams up with a young psychic, named Mary, to travel to the town where they team up with another couple, psychiatrist Jerry and patient Sandra, to find a way to close the gates before All Saints Day or the dead all over the world will rise up and kill the living.
Comments: Good hell on earth type of movie, but the zombies are too ghost-like to be true to the genre. I definitely prefer any of Fulci's other zombie films.

THE GHOUL - 1934
An ancient Egyptian returns from the dead to take revenge on those who have violated his tomb.

GHOUL SCHOOL - 1990
This low budget b-movie is actually not a complete pile of crap. In fact I like it. After some chemicals get into the school’s water supply, the swim team become flesh eating zombies and rampage the high school.
Comments: Totally dudical.

GORE-MET, ZOMBIE CHEF FROM HELL - 1986
An undead cannibal opens up a seafood restaurant, and kills and cooks people to serve to his customers.
Comments: so bad it's good? or how about: so utterly horrible it is somewhat okay? Pretty funny and horrible undead cannibal movie

GORE WHORE - 1994
When a lab assistant steals an important formula and all its documentation from Dr. Whitman, he hires a bottom-of-the-barrel private eye, Chase Barr, to locate it. When Barr digs deeper into the case he finds the lab assistant is actually a dead street whore and the "formula" is a reanimation agent that, with the consumption of human blood, is keeping her alive! In trying to retrieve the formula, Chase is given a rollercoaster ride through hell as the whore reanimates corpses to attack him and help her hold onto the formula.
Comments: the female version of The Necro Files. Check it out!

GRAVEYARD DISTURBANCE - 1987
Five young robbers spend a whole night in a dark catacomb to win a priceless treasure. They will have to fight against lots of ferocious zombies and mutant ghouls.
Comments: Great dreamlike atmosphere will keep you hooked into this plot.

HARD ROCK ZOMBIES - 1984
A hard rock band travels to the tiny and remote town of Grand Guignol to perform. Peopled by hicks, rubes, werewolves, murderous dwarves, sex perverts, and Hitler, the town is a strange place but that doesn't stop the band's lead singer from falling in love with a local girl named Cassie. After Nazi sex perverts kill the band to satisfy their lusts, Cassie calls the rockers back from the grave to save her, the town, and maybe the world.
Comments: This movie rules! I thought it would be horrible but it is now one of my favorites. Don't miss it.

HELLGATE - 1989
A motorcycle gang kidnaps a young woman, Josie, from a diner and brutally kills her. Many years later, the girl's father finds a magic crystal that can bring the life back to dead objects. He uses it to re-animate his daughter. He lets her seduce any young man that comes to visit the small town and then kills them. Four young students, two boys and two girls spend a vacation near the town, Hellgate. They hear about the story and get involved.
Comments: a whole village of puppet-like zombies is an eerie thought, but they don't really rampage and eat brains or anything. Still worth checking out.

HORROR EXPRESS - 1972
An English anthropologist (Christopher Lee) has discovered a frozen monster in the frozen wastes of Manchuria which he believes may be the Missing Link. He brings the creature back to Europe aboard a trans-Siberian express, but during the trip the monster thaws out and starts to butcher the passengers one by one.
Comments: Zombies are at the end of this film.

HORROR OF THE ZOMBIES - 1975
(aka The Ghost Ships of the Blind Dead)
Two young girls travel in a newly constructed boat at sea. This event should make a propaganda for this new construction. The wireless radio contact breaks suddenly. The search expedition comes across an old sail ship populated by bloody zombies. It seems there is no escape from the undead templars...
Comments: the funniest of the blind dead series. All 4 movies are worth owning. This might be the exception to many, but I still love it.

HORROR RISES FROM THE TOMB - 1973
In Medieval France a warlock is be-headed and his wife tortured and executed. Hundreds of years later an isolated group of people discover his head buried on their property. Soon it comes back to life, possessing people and using them to commit sacrifices and to search for the rest of his body
Comments: There is at least on rampaging zombie scene that I remember. For Paul Naschy fans and extreme zombie fanatics only.

HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY - 1981
A family moves into an old house by the cemetery. They slowly begin to realize that a living corpse occupies the secret places of the mansion who needs fresh body parts to rejuvenate his cells.
Comments: One of the freakiest movies I can think of, but there's only one zombie in it. A big tough scary one.

HOUSE OF THE SEVEN CORPSES - 1974
Low Budget feature starring John Ireland as a director filming a film on location in a house where seven murders were committed. John Carridine is the caretaker who warns them not to mess with things they do not understand(the murders were occult related)but Ireland wants to be as authentic as possible and has his cast re-enact rituals that took place in the house thus summoning a ghoul from the nearby cemetery to bump the whole film crew off one by one.

I EAT YOUR SKIN - 1964
(aka Voodoo Bloodbath)
A cancer researcher on a remote Caribbean island discovers that by treating the natives with snake venom he can turn them into bug-eyed zombies. Uninterested in this information, the unfortunate man is forced by his evil employer to create an army of the creatures in order to conquer the world.

I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE - 1943
She's alive... yet dead! She's dead... yet alive! A young Canadian nurse (Betsy) comes to the West Indies to care for Jessica, the wife of a plantation manager (Paul Holland). Jessica seems to be suffering from a kind of mental paralysis as a result of fever. When she falls in love with Paul, Betsy determines to cure Jessica even if she needs to use a voodoo ceremony, to give Paul what she thinks he wants.

I WAS A TEENAGE ZOMBIE - 1987
Four High-Schoolers (led by the leather-jacketed "Bird") accidentally kill a drug pusher and dump his body in toxic waters. When the pusher returns as a zombie, and knocks off our heroes one by one, their only recourse is to dump the body of one of their recently dead, and have him return as a "good" zombie to face off with the bad one. The Producer's hook for the film was to feature music by groups the likes of The Fleshtones and Los Lobos.
Comments: not as good as Johnny Zombie, but watchable if you can stand 80s comedies.

I WAS A ZOMBIE FOR THE FBI - 1982
pair of criminal brothers survive an airplane crash and discover a plot by aliens from outer space to conquer Earth by turning human beings in zombies. The FBI gets involved and wants the brothers to infiltrate the alien force.
Comments: Plan 9 from outer space style zombie movie

He is turning into a zombie. He leaves his girlfriend and moves into his own place. In order to survive he needs to eat human flesh. Comments: a classic in my mind.

JOHNNY ZOMBIE - 1993
(aka My Boyfriend’s Back)
Missy McCloud is the most beautiful girl in school and Johnny Dingo has been in love with her for years. One night, Johnny is killed trying to win her over, and soon he comes back from the dead, and wins Missy's heart.
This is THE zombie comedy. I don't care what anyone says, this is one unique film that is a must have in every zombie collection.

JUNK - 1999
Although severely outclassed by later films like "Wild Zero" and "Versus," "Junk" is still a worthwhile foray into the zombie genre, which seems to be getting a transfusion of much needed new blood over in Japan. The characters in this film are either selfish and unlikeable or simply cliche, which is the real drawback to the film. It prevents any sort of tension or emotional involvement. At the same time, there is a half-naked super zombie woman kicking people's heads off and breaking out some serious undead kungfu, so who can really complain? Decent gore, some good action, and a high energy level elevate the movie above the mundane script and characters, resulting in an above average time waster that delights in the end. If you're expecting the cuteness of "Wild Zero" or "Dead Alive," or the apocalyptic impact of "Dawn of the Dead," you're better off watching those movies. If you're looking for no-nonsense, gory, idiotic zombie fun with some gun toting Yakzua thrown in, this movie is aces.
Comments: in Japanese (and sometimes English) without subtitles. I'm willing to trade any film on this list to anyone who has a subtitled version of Junk.

KILLING BIRDS - 1987
(aka Raptors)
A group of students goes into the woods to study birds, and soon the dead begin to rise to devour the living.
Comments: I believe D'Amato came in at the last minute to save this film. That's probably why the first half of this movie is boring and the second half is actually good.

THE KILLING BOX - 1993
(aka the Ghost Brigade)
Slave traders bring back evil voodoo entity that is accidently freed by the Confederate army during the Civil War. The entity possesses the bodies of the dead soldiers to create an army of its own bent on conquest, using the corpses of both the North and South.
Comments: Seems like a remake of The Supernaturals. KILLING SPREE - 1987
Tom feels that his wife is cheating on him. It doesn't take long for his paranoia to get the best of him and he begins to murder the men he thinks his wife is sleeping with. Tom has the most inventive and gruesome ways of dealing with these unfortunate chaps.
Comments: "They all come back as zombies at the end and take their revenge" is an overdone plot, but this film is quite a popular low budget wonder. Perhaps because of the zombie and gore effects.

KING OF THE ZOMBIES - 1941
During World War 2, a small plane off the south coast of America is low on fuel and blown off course by a storm. Guided by a faint radio signal, they crashland on an island. The passenger, his manservant and the pilot take refuge in a mansion owned by a doctor. The easily-spooked manservant soon becomes convinced the mansion is haunted by zombies and ghosts. Exploring, the 3 find a voodoo ritual in the cellar, where the doctor is trying to acquire war intelligence by transferring personalities into his zombies. But the interruption causes the zombies to turn on their creator.
Comments: one of the better of the old voodoo zombie comedies. Way better than Zombies on Broadway.

KUNG FU ZOMBIE - 1982
A criminal comes to town in order to kill Billy Chong over a past dispute. But instead of getting his own hands dirty, he hires a Taoist wizard to animate some zombies to do the job for him. The plan goes horribly awry, and the bad guy ends up getting killed in his own trap. This pisses off the villain's spirit and he forces the priest to reincarnate him - only they can't find a suitable body. Meanwhile, an undead fiend of sorts comes to town to kill Billy's father over some other past dispute. This is where all of Billy's kung fu training comes in handy, and he manages to kill the attacker. With this, the other bad guy finally has a body to use, but the reincarnation goes wrong and the corpse is reborn as a vampire.
Comments: classic kung fu flick with a supernatural theme. Definitely worth owning if you love zombies/vampires as well as old kung fu movies.

LA CAGE OF ZOMBIES -
Zombies are coming back from the dead and rampaging the city. But strangely death gives zombies the urge to wear drag. So begins the night of the living dead drag queens.

THE LAUGHING DEAD - 1998
A seeming drug addict wakes up in a post-nuclear war future. He stumbles around trying to figure out what happened. All survivors sit in their homes watching television and using drugs while mutant zombies, government clean-up officials, and giant pigs roam the streets. Great premise for an end-of-the-world flick. Dialogue lacking in a few places, but the ideas behind the premise are strong. Some great camera-work and enough surprises to keep the Evil Dead fans guessing.
Comments: This movie is worth watching just to see the imagined television shows of the future. I for one can't wait for the terrible end of civilization if only to watch these shows. I hope this director finds more work.

LEGEND OF THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES - 1974
Count Dracula journies to a remote Chinese village in the guise of a warlord to support six vampires who are dispirited after the loss of a seventh member of their cult. At the same time, vampire hunter Prof. Van Helsing happens to be lecturing in the country and is persuaded by villagers to help them fight this curse of the ages.
Comments: stange movie that combines zombie movies with dracula and kung fu films. Worth checking out for novelty purposes.

LEGION OF THE DEAD - 2000

What is the mysterious secret that Geena and the Blond Man share? The clock ticks as the ultimatum draws near. The fight against evil has just begun...
Comments: this movie kicks ass. Great writing and plotting. More of a demon movie than a zombie movie, but still good.

LEGION OF THE NIGHT - 1995
A brilliant scientist experiments with dead tissue regeneration, leading to organized crime making use of the creations as Ultimate Killing Machines! The doctor is blackmailed into creating "Cybernetic Zombie Assassins" (C.Z.A.'s) to carry out mob hits on rival gangsters. The scientist is killed when one of the hits goes wrong. The scientist's assistant then teams up with the doctor's son, and they send the C.Z.A.'s on a mission of revenge against the mob boss. A glitch, however, causes the monsters to go on a killing rampage throughout the city. The son is forced to go after the C.Z.A.'s, and he is nearly killed. He then decides, if you can't beat them, join them! He is brought back as a C.Z.A. to face off against the remaining zombies - leading to a showdown between "the ultimate killing machines"!
Comments: a film made for zombie fanatics. Not at all as good as this director's other film Necro Files, but then what is?

LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE - 1974
Experimental pesticides that farmers are using have an unexpected side effect; it brings the dead back to life seeking human flesh to dine on. A baffled police detective accuses drifter hippies of the cannibalistic murders.
Comments: one of the most popular of all zombie movies. I prefer more rampaging than this, but it is really worth chekcing out.

LIVING A ZOMBIE DREAM - 1996
This independent film is like a surreal/dreamlike version of I, Zombie. Comments: Pretty good stuff. Eat the flesh, eat the flesh, eat the flesh.

LIVING DEAD GIRL - 1982
A toxic spill revives a beautiful, dead heiress who, with the help of her childhood friend, must quench her insatiable thirst for blood.
Comments: a zombie drama that is gripping in some ways. The story isn't that new but the directing is very strong and makes you keep watching to the end

LIVING DEAD IN TOKYO BAY - 1992
(aka Battle Girl)
When a meteor crashes into Tokyo Bay, a toxic cloud covers the city and a new, alien virus causes the dead to walk and feast on the living. To make matters worse, punk gangs terrorize the city and the Japanese military suspiciously will not control the situation. It's up to Keiko (Cutei Suzuki), a one-woman army, to bring some order and save her home from the ghouls and gangs.
Comments: The original Japanese zombie flick. It just plain rules. Sound is slightly bad quality, but this film is a must see!

THE MAD GHOUL - 1943
Curious about the effects of an ancient Mayan nerve gas on humans, a scientist exposes his young assistant and turns him into a mindless ghoul that must have human heart substance to live.

MANSION OF THE LIVING DEAD
Jess Franco's tribute to the templar knight series. It's plot involves some lesbians at a secluded resort who have sex with each other and then die.
Comments: not exellent quality and in Spanish with no subtitles but still worth checking out.

MEAT MARKET
Lesbian vampires and a masked Mexican wrestler battle zombies that have taken over the Earth.
Comments: one of my favorite indie zombie films ever made.

MEAT MARKET 2
The sequel is even better than the first.

MIDNIGHT HOUR - 1985
Phil, Mitch, Vinnie, Mary and Melissa are friends unwittingly wake Melissa's great, great, great, great grandmother Lucinda, who is a witch, and has brought the dead back to get revenge.
Comments: a made for TV 80s movie that seemed to be made for kids. There are a lot of hungry zombies in this, but most zombie movie collectors are embarrassed to own this one. (Same goes for Night of the Creeps)

MUTANT
During some point in the 80s, zombies were out and radioactive mutants were in. This movie is a zombie film pretending to be a mutant movie. A redneck town is overrun with the living dead caused by mischievousness at the local nuclear power plant.
Comments: The cover of this film was stupid, but this is still a must have zombie flick.

MUTATION - 1999
A toxic chemical causes death and destruction across Germany, leading to a new mutation unlike anything the world has ever seen...
Comments: in German with no subtitles

NECRO FILES - 1998
A cannibal rapist rises from the grave as a flesh-eating zombie sex maniac! Two Seattle cops, a satanic cult and a flying demon fetus try to stop the lust-crazed ghoul before he can kill again.
The funnist and greatest movie ever made. Get it now.

NECROPOLIS - 1986
Reincarnated "Satanic Witch" from New Amsterdam, circa 1600's comes back to revive her cult members by sucking the life force out of people.
Comments: This is considered a zombie movie but I'm not sure if it is.

NEON MANIACS - 1985
A group of teenagers in San Francisco discover a nest of homicidal monsters living in a tower of the Golden Gate Bridge, but when they try to tell authorities, no one believes them.
The zombie tribute to The Village People. serious. There is a cop zombie, a soldier zombie, a biker zombie, a thug zombie, and dozens more. This is something that must be seen to be believed.

NIGHT LIFE - 1989
Archie is a "brain" at a small town high school who works part-time at his uncle's mortuary and is harassed by a few of the popular kids because of it. His harassers die in an automobile accident, and the bodies are taken to his uncle's mortuary. Archie is pulling a late night at the mortuary when he sees a storm brewing. Lighting strikes! They're alive! The preppie bullies continue to torment him - as zombies.
Comments: this movie sounds bad, but it is actually extremely well done. The writing and directing are both very skilled. You can tell they knew what they were doing when making this film. Even though the overall idea is lame, it is worth watching/owning/worshipping.

NIGHT OF HORROR - 1978
Four people are stranded on what was once an ancient battle ground. They are haunted by the living corpses of the soldiers who died there, which propels them into a .... Night Of Horror.
Comments: These zombies are more like ghosts and are actually really friendly. Watch this if you are interested in seeing one of the worst movies ever made.

NIGHT OF THE COMET - 1984
A comet wipes out most of life on Earth, leaving two Valley Girls to fight the evil types who survive.
Comments: This movie is pure 80s pop-culture with an apocalyptic setting. Zombies are the major conflict of this movie, but you don't see too many of them during the course of the film.

NIGHT OF THE CREEPS - 1986
Alien brain parasites, entering humans through the mouth, turn their host into a killing zombie. Some teenagers start to fight against them.
Comments: A pretty cheesy 80s movie but there are rampaging corpses in it.

NIGHT OF THE GHOULS - 1959
Phony spiritualist raises the dead.
Comments: Ed Wood style zombie movies are always great and funny, but don't expect any flesh-eating.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD - 1968
A group of people hide from bloodthirsty zombies in a farmhouse The George Romero masterpiece that made us all obsessed with zombies.
Comments: This is the classic version. No cuts, no colorization, and no horrible post-produced scenes with that annoying preacher who needs to get decapitated immediately.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD - 1990
In this remake of the original classic film, a group of people are trapped inside a farmhouse as legions of the walking dead try to get inside and use them for food.
Comments: just as much a classic as the original.

NIGHT OF THE SEAGULLS - 1975
The Knight Templars return in this fourth installment of the Blind Dead seris. On this outing, the Templars haunt a fishing village, where they rise seven nights every seven years to claim their sacrificial offerings in return for the safety of the townspeople.
The last blind dead movie is almost as good as the first two. You must own them all.

NIGHT OF THE ZOMBIES - 1981
(aka Hell of the Living Dead)
After a chemical leak at the Hope Centre in Papua New Guinea (an organisation devoted to feeding underdeveloped countries) turns its staff into flesh-eating zombies, a four-man commando squad led by Mike London are sent to investigate. They run into a TV news crew led by celebrity reporter Lea, who are after the same story, but when they discover that the entire country has been overrun by zombies, what are the chances of them getting the message across? Unlike most zombie films, this actually tries to make a serious point - that if we don't feed the Third World, they'll come and feed on us!
Comments: rampaging zombies are my heroes! Dawn of the Dead meets Zombie, but low budget and badly dircted. Highly recommended.

NUDIST COLONY OF THE DEAD - 1991
Judge Rhinehole orders the Sunny Buttocks Nudist Camp closed down as an affront to the community. The members of the camp enter into a suicide pact, but vow to return for vengeance. Five years later, a group of campers on a retreat argue with each other about religion and sing big production numbers as the group is attacked by nude zombies.
Comments: absolutely unwatchable to some, an addiction to others. I hate this movie yet I can't stop watching it. Why? I have no idea.

PREMUTOS - 1997
Premutos is the first of the fallen Angels, even before Lucifer. His Goal is to rule the world, the living and the dead. His son should pave the way for him and appears arbitrary throughout human history and is then recognized as some kind of monster. In the present time, a young man living in Germany begins to suffer from visionary flashbacks - of the lives he lived in the past as Premutos' son! He remembers how he appeared in the middle age, when mankind suffered from pestilence and during WWII in Russia. On his (earthly) father's birthday, a case containing some strange old book and a yellow potion is found in their garden, which was hidden by some peasant in 1943, who experimented with witchery in order to re-animate his deceased wife. Whe the young man gets in touch with the book and some of the yellow potion, he mutates into a monster and awakens an army of zombies, ready to bring back the fallen Angel Premutos and to disturb the little birthday party...
Comments: in German with no subtitles

OASIS OF THE ZOMBIES - 1983
(aka Treasure of the Living Dead)
During World War II, a small German squadron was assigned the task of carrying a shipment of Nazi gold across the African desert. Along the way, the squadron was ambushed by the Allies, and only one American soldier, Robert, survived. Years later, Robert tells his story to a German treasure hunter named Kurt, who promptly murders him. Robert's son, upon learning of his father's death, vows to travel to Africa and find the lost gold himself. While the desert is hazardous enough by itself, the dangers lurking around this oasis are more than any of the treasure hunters ever imagined.
Comments: A must have. But don't expect a masterpiece.

ONE DARK NIGHT - 1983
As part of an initiation into a club called "The Sisters," a young girl must spend the night in a mausoleum.
Comments: features puppet-like zombies similar to Hellgate and Revenge of the Zombie

PLAGUE OF THE ZOMBIES - 1966
Young workers are dying because of a mysterious epidemic in a little village in Cornwall. Doctor Thompson is helpless and asks professor James Forbes for help. The professor and his daughter Sylvia travel to Thomson. Terrible things happen soon, beyond imagination or reality. Dead people are seen near an old, unused mine. Late people seem to live suddenly. Professor Forbes presumes that black magic is involved and someone has extraordinary power. He doesn't know how close he is: the dead become alive because of a magic voodoo-ritual, and so they must serve their master as mindless zombies...
Comments: fun zombie mystery that is like the old voodoo zombie movies but way better. No flesh-eating, sadly, but perhaps worth checking out.

PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE - 1958
Can your heart stand the shocking facts about Graverobbers from Outer Space?" That's the question on the lips of the narrator of this tale about flying saucers, zombies and cardboard tombstones. A pair of aliens, angered by the "stupid minds" of planet Earth, set up shop in a California cemetary. Their plan: to animate an army of the dead to march on the capitals of the world. (The fact that they have only managed to resurrect three zombies to date has not discouraged them.) An intrepid airline pilot living near the cemetary must rescue his wife from this low-budget terror. "Can you prove it *didn't* happen?"
Comments: ed wood loved zombies and created a bunch of funny movies with them in it. His influence put a sort of cheesy element into the zombie genre that still exists to this day.

PORNO HOLOCAUST
This D’Amato film is just like Erotic Nights of the Living Dead, but it only has one zombie in it who rapes women to death with its extremely large penis.

THE PRISON - 1988
A long-dead prisoner returns for revenge.
Comments: there are no zombies in this film but it is considered a zombie film for some reason. Just a lame ghost story.

PRISON OF THE DEAD - 2000
Kristof, an eccentric rich kid, tricks his high school friends into getting back together for a reunion of sorts, under the pretense of a funeral. The group of twenty-somethings is forced to spend the night in an old abandoned witches' prison. During a Ouija Board sééance, the schoolmates accidentally unearth three dead executioners from their graves. A little confused, and quite a bit angry, the Crypt Keepers initiate a killing spree that will only end when everyone is dead. Fortunately, the schoolmates all wore black. Too bad it's for their own funerals...
Comments: this movie makes me very angry.

PSYCHOMANIA - 1971
A Gang of young people call themselves the Living Dead. They terrorise the population from their small town. After an agreement with the devil, if they kill themselves firmly believing in it, they will survive and gain eternal life. Following their leader, they commit suicide the ones after the others, but things don't necessarily turn out as expected...
Comments: zombies that are just like normal people just aren't scary. movies like this can only be good if they are dramatic/artistic like Shatter Dead and I, Zombie.

RAIDERS OF THE LIVING DEAD - 1986
A newspaper reporter hears of strange goings-on on a remote island. He travels there and finds that a mad scientist lives there and he is creating zombies.
Comments: killing zombies with laser guns sounded great, but then I realized they used a laser gun to kill the zombies because it was cheaper than paying for the gore effects needed for bullets.

RAISINS OF DEATH - 1978
(aka Grapes of Death)
A young woman discovers that the pesticide being sprayed on vineyards is turning people into killer zombies.
Comments: one of my favorite euro horror movies. Creepy atmosphere and strange plotting. Many people hate Jean Rollin and Jess Franco films, but I think they are the true greats of Euro horror.

REDNECK ZOMBIES - 1987
A barrel of radioactive waste is lost out in the woods. Some demented rednecks find it and use it as part of their still. Everybody who drinks from the liquor they produced turns into a zombie. Soon a small group of campers find themselves rampaged by hundreds of livin dead folk.
Comments: one of the best super low budget zombie films ever made.

RESIDENT EVIL - 2002
A Virus has scaped in a secret facility called "The Hive" turning all researchers into hungry zombies and releasing their mutated Lab "Animals" that they were studying. The Government sends in an elite military task force lead by Alice (Jovovich) and Rain (Rodriguez) to contain the virus in three hours before it escapes and infects the rest of the world. But all their training couldn't have prepared them for what they were going to encounter...
Comments: I don't like the game really but this movie proved to be the first good commercial zombie movie since Day of the Dead. I pray they make a sequel soon.

RETURN OF THE EVIL DEAD - 1973
(aka Return of the Blind Dead)
500 years after they were blinded and executed for committing human sacrifices, a band of Templar knights returns from the grave to terrorize a rural Portuguese village during it’’s centennial celebration. Being blind, the Templars find their victims through sound, usually the screams of their victims. Taking refuge in a deserted cathedral, a small group of people must find a way to escape from the creatures.
Comments: my favorite of the blind dead series. Check it out.

RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD - 1985
When a bumbling pair of employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause the dead to re-animate as they go on a rampage through Louisville, Kentucky seeking their favorite food, brains.
Comments: brains!!!

RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD 2 - 1988
a group of kids discover one of the drums containing a rotting corpse and release the 2-4-5 Trioxen gas into the air, causing the dead to once again rise from the grave and seek out human brains.
Comments: not as good as the first one or third one, but it is the funniest and features more rampaging zombies than the other two so I sat it's grade A.

RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD 3 - 1993
Colonel Reynolds and his group of government scientists continue their work on re-animating the dead for military use. His son Curt and his girlfriend Julie use Dad's security pass to sneak in and watch the proceedings. Later when father and son have a disagreement, Curt and Julie take off on a motorcycle and Julie is killed in an accident. Grief-stricken, Curt takes her body to the lab and brings her back to life. Curt must help Julie deal with her new zombie existence as military agents and local gang members try to find them.
Comments: I want to date a zombie girl too ...

RETURN OF THE ZOMBIES - 1973
(aka The Hanging Woman)
Paul Naschy plays a supporting role as a deranged gravedigger in this zombie movie, set in a small highland village in 19th-century Scotland, where a stranger's arrival to claim an inheritance is met with apocalyptic visions and other evil omens. The town unearths a crypt full of horrors, including a devil-worshipping coven and throngs of the living dead.
Comments: actually a pretty good movie for being one of those mystery/suspense style zombie films.

REVENGE OF THE LIVING DEAD GIRLS - 1987
Really bad movie about a few girls who decide to be zombies and kill some people.
Comments: worth watching for fanatics but the ending makes this movie a complete pile of crap.

REVENGE OF THE LIVING ZOMBIES - 1994
(aka Zombie Nosh)
A group of college students on an overnite hayride come across a group of maneating zombies. They must fight for their lives while trying to escape and warn the authorities.
Comments: badly done zombie movie that is a must-have because it has a ton of flesheating zombies in it. So I highly recommend it.

REVENGE OF THE RADIOACTIVE REPORTER - 1991
A young newspaper reporter becomes a horrible crusty-faced zombie following a radioactive contamination.

REVENGE OF THE ZOMBIE - 1981
(aka Kiss Daddy Goodbye)
Two children use psychic powers to raise their father from the grave and kill a biker gang.
Comments: like Hellgate and One Dark Night, the zombie is just a corpse that is moved around like a puppet with telekentic powers. This is the worst of the three.

REVENGE OF THE ZOMBIES - 1943
Scott Warrington and his hired detective, Larry Adams, arrive at an old mansion in the middle of a Louisiana swamp to meet his brother-in-law, Dr. Max von Altermann shortly after the death of Scott's sister, Lila. Von Altermann, a Nazi who has been creating zombies for the armies of the Third Reich, has turned the deceased Lila into one of the undead as well, but is surprised when she shows signs of free will and challenges Max for control over his zombie thralls.

An international expedition is sent into Cambodia to destroy an ancient formula that turns men into zombies.

ROT - 1999
Punk rockers contract a flesh-rotting zombie disease after having sex with corpses. They soon spread their disease to their friends and enemies and a zombie rampage ensues.
Comments: Actually, not much rampaging ensues. The story is pretty good but there is an annoying scientist that makes you hate the movie every time he is on screen. He is like Jar Jar Binks or something. This is kind of like the punk version of I, Zombie. Check it out.

SCALPS - 1983
Silly group of college science students go an dig around in an indian burial ground for artifacts. Unfortunately, one of them becomes possessed by the evil spirit of Black Claw so he must therefore slaughter all of his friends.

THE SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW - 1988
Dennis Allan is an scientist who visits Haiti on the strength of a rumour of a drug which renders the recepient totally paralyzed but conscious. The drug's effects often fool doctors, who declare the victims dead. Could this be the origin of the "zombie" legend? Alan embarks on a surprising and often surreal investigation of the turbulent social chaos that is Haiti during the revolution which ousted hated dictator Papa Doc. Often a pawn in a greater game, Alan must decide what is science, what is superstition, and what is the unknown in a anarchistic society where police corruption and witch-doctory are commonplace.
Comments: a favorite for lovers of voodoo, but I prefer flesheaters over voodoo zombies.

SEWER ZOMBIE - 1976
(aka Panic)
This plot is exactly the same as Zombie 3 had if the first 15 minutes of the movie stretched into 90 minutes. Only one person in this film gets infected with the zombie disease and the military are willing to kill everybody in order to stop the disease from spreading. I wish the writers of the film would have let the disease spread, because the heroes of this movie are way too good at making sure no one else gets this disease during the course of the film.
Comments: people say this movie is great for its budget and they wish more movies would have directing this good. I don't know what they're talking about though, but then I never really concentrated on watching this film.

SIEGE OF THE DEAD -
Zombies have taken over the world and there are only a few people left to fight to survive. This is how all zombie movies should be. A pretty short film with a low budget, but still a great addition to the Day of the Dead style zombie movie.
Comments: I wish a million films were made in this style.

SHATTER DEAD - 1994
In a horrible turn of events, the people of this world go on living even in death. With gangs about killing people to share in their misery, and people (corpses) confused, it is indeed a bleek future. When Susan, not yet dead, is faced with her boyfriend's impending trek home, she does her best to cope.
Comments: an indie classic that is utterly unique and bizarre. A must have.

SHOCK WAVES - 1977
This horror movie concerns a shipwrecked yachting party. Rose (Brooke Adams) and her fellow yacht-mates, including the captain (John Carradine) run aground on an island when they hit an odd-looking freighter. Once beached, they meet up with an aging SS Commander (Peter Cushing) who had been in charge of a crew of zombies.
Comments: the scariest pg-rated movie ever made.

SMALL TOWN SERIAL KILLERS AND FLESH EATERS
(aka Scary Movie)
I believe this movie was made by a high school. All the actors seem to be either teachers or high school students. Rather impressive film if this is true. Starts out as a murder mystery, which is pretty lame. But then out of absolutely nowhere: zombies! Night of the living dead rampages a surburban neighborhood and great fun ensues.
Comment: the lowest budget zombie movie I've ever seen ever, but still true to the zombie genre so it's a must watch.

SPACE ZOMBIE BINGO - 1993
The U.S. Military along with the general population are trying to rid the country of alien zombie invaders.
Ed Wood style zombie movie.

SPOOF OF THE LIVING DEAD - 1991
(aka Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son of the Bride of the Return of the Revenge of the Terror of the Attack of the Evil, Mutant, Alien, Flesh Eating, Hellbound, Zombified, Subhumanoid, Living Dead Part 2) The makers of this parody of "Night of the Living Dead" took George Romero's classic and wiped the soundtrack clean, then redubbed it with comedic dialogue.
Comments: My favorite part is how the zombies are not really zombies but rampaging homosexuals attacking a house full of homophobics.

SOLE SURVIVOR - 1982
Denise Watson is a TV station worker who is the only survivor of a unexplained, horrific airplane crash in which she is completely unscratched. Soon, Denise becomes haunted by feelings of unworthiness as well as seeing strange people following her and hearing voices calling her name which no one but she can hear. Disregarding warnings from a psychic actress friend, Denise tries to get on with her life while it's revealed that she was supposed to die in the crash, but somehow escaped, now the unseen spector of death wants to collect her by sending its minions, people that have recently died, to kill Denise and finish the job what death had planed for.
Comments: A rip off of Carnival of Souls, but the dead are much more like Romero's flesheating living dead. Definitely worth checking out.

STACY
Japanese school girls between the ages of 15 and 19 for no reason whatsoever turn into flesh- hungry zombies.
Comments: this movie kicks ass! But then, all asian zombie movies do. Check it out now.

In exchange for her soul, the Dark Master raises up a zombie army to do her bidding. The bad guys who thought they were getting away clean are about to find out that they're DEAD wrong.
Comments: The only blaxploitation zombie movie out there. Worth a watch.

THE SUPERNATURALS - 1986
Nichelle Nichols is an army Sgt. who leads her platoon into the woods of the deep south on a training exercise. Unfortunately, it is the site where a bunch of Yankee soldiers murdered a town of confederates. The corpses of the dead soldiers rise up to wreak revenge.
Comments: The zombies seem a little ghostlike but this movie isn't too bad to watch.

TEENAGE ZOMBIES - 1959
Teenagers Reg, Skip, Julie and Pam go out for an afternoon of water skiing on a nice day. They come ashore on an island that is being used as a testing center for a scientist and agents from "an eastern power." They seek to turn the people of the United States into easily controlled zombie like creatures. The agents steal Reg's boat, stranding the teens on the island. The four friends are then held captive in cages able only to speculate on their fate. Though they have already been testing the formula on convicts and drunks, the enemy scientist and agents plan to conduct final tests on the teens before they use it on the rest of America. Meanwhile, two of their friends, whom the captives had planned to meet later, search for their missing friends. After a series of suspicious encounters, they urge the corrupt sheriff to search the island where their friends are trapped.

TERROR CREATURES FROM THE GRAVE - 1966
Quintessential spaghetti horror film; it even stars Barbara Steele, the queen of such films. Everything is there, the over-blown scenery including a medieval castle, a cast of delectable victims, the couple in love, and lots mysterious, unexplainable deaths, and as a bonus a memorable soundtrack. Is it the work of a maniacal killer or something more?<

TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD - 1971
In the 13th century there existed a legion of evil knights known as the Templars, who quested for eternal life by drinking human blood and committing sacrifices. Executed for their unholy deeds, the Templars bodies were left out for the crows to peck out their eyes. Now, in modern day Portugal, a group of people stumble on the Templars abandoned monastery, reviving their rotting corpses to terrorize the land.
Comments: a classic. There is nothing like the zombies in these films. Watch/own/worship them all.

TOXIC ZOMBIES - 1980
(aka Bloodeaters)
After drug crops are sprayed with a chemical by a passing airplane, the growers of the crop are poisoned by the chemical and turn into zombie-like mutants.
Comments: A cult classic among zombie fanatics who are also stoners.

TWILIGHT OF THE FLESH EATERS
A gay porn version of Night of the Living Dead. I haven't watched it but I guess it won a bunch of porn movie awards. I'm sure even the extremest of straight zombie fanatics will hesitate getting this one, but when I say I want every zombie movie ever made I mean it.

VENGEANCE OF THE ZOMBIES - 1972
A Paul Naschy vehicle in which he plays an East Indian guru named (what else?) Krishna who may or may not be responsible for gang of murderous zombies on the loose in London, but the real 'stars' of this flick are the unintentional humor and the relentlessly kitschy soundtrack (the end title theme is particularly memorable, in that "so bad, it's good" category). Other things to watch out for include the stock footage of London, grinning zombies, a blinking corpse, and an "out of left field" plot twist.
Comments: Stupendously bad, but terrific fun for those into this sort of thing.

VERSUS - 2000
There are 666 portals that connect this world to the other side. These are concealed from all human beings. Somewhere in Japan exists the 444th portal.... The forest of resurrection.
Comments: zombies aren't the major conflict in this film, but hey they aren't in The Beyond either. Still, this is one of the best zombie movies out there with interesting characters and an evolving plot. Make sure to see/buy this one somewhere.

THE VIDEO DEAD - 1987
An unlabelled crate from an unknown source is delivered to a house in the woods. The homeowner unwisely accepts the delivery, only to discover it contains a TV set that starts spewing giggling zombies all over the place. When a new family moves into the now-abandoned house, the son discovers the haunted televsion and is soon told what he needs to do to send the zombies back where they belong. Knowing and doing, however, are two very different things, and the zombies are not likely to go quietly.
Comments: A late-night cable classic.

VIRGIN AMONG THE LIVING DEAD - 1971
(AKA Christine, Princess of Eroticism )
A girl arrives from London to visit her estranged relatives in a remote castle for the reading of her father's will. After a while she discovers that they are all in fact dead and her decision to live with them turns into a nightmare. Unable to leave she's drawn into a macabre underworld through visions of nude satanic rituals and rampaging zombies.
Comments: artistic and surreal. One of my favorites, even though most people hate it.

VOODOO ISLAND - 1957
A wealthy industrialist hires the renowned hoax-buster Phillip Knight (Boris Karloff) to prove that an island he plans to develop isn't voodoo cursed. However, arriving on the island, Knight soon realizes that voodoo does exist when he discovers man-eating plants and a tribe of natives with bizarre powers.

After Beaumont uses Legendre's zombie potion on Madeleine, he is dissatisfied with her emotionless being and wants her to be changed back. Legendre has no intention of doing this and he drugs Beaumont as well to add to his zombie collection. Meanwhile, grieving 'widower' Neil is convinced by a local priest that Madeleine may still be alive and he seeks her out.

WILD ZERO - 2000
Wild Zero is the hardcore- splatter- version of Six String Samurai. It ìs got everything you need: guts, glory, ghoulish zombies and of course rock ìn roll...
Comments: the best of the best, in my opinion. Get this now. Fans of Guitar Wolf will love this movie.

ZEDER - 1983
(aka Revenge of the Dead)
Stefano, a young journalist, buys a used typewriter and accidentally sees that some text is still readable on the ribbon. He manages to reconstruct the story of a scientist, Paolo Zeder, who in the 1950's discovered that some types of terrain have the power to revive the dead that are buried in them. Stefano's investigations bring him in contact with a group of renegade scientists that are still making experiments to prove Zeder's theories.
Comments: similar to Pet Semetery but better, of course.

ZOMBIE - 1979
(aka Zombie2: The Dead Are Among Us)

On the way, they meet with with Brian, a ethnologist, and Susan. Comments: one of the classic flesheating zombie films that defined the genre.

Terrorists steal a nerve toxin from a secret military base, which accidently gets into a city's water supply, turning the inhabitants into cannibal zombies. Meanwhile, a trio of soldiers on leave help a group of teens stranded in the outskirts of town fend off the zombies. A DJ at the town's only working radio station provides philosophical commentary.
Comments: most people hate this, but I think it is one of the best zombie movies out there. It has all the elements of a good zombie movie, but people seem to not like it because it doesn't offer anything new. Who cares? I say not enough zombie movies are made like this.

ZOMBIE ‘90: EXTREME PESTILENCE - 1991
A military machine carrying untested lethal chemicals crashes into a forest, a dead patient comes back to life in the operation room and mutilated bodies are being found all over the country. A new epidemic has broken out, the "Extreme Pestilence". Two doctors discover the epidemic and take on the hopeless fight against the living dead. The only way to kill the zombies is to destroy the brain or seperate the brain from the rest of the body.
Comments: I believe this is the first in a long line of very awesome, very gory German zombie movies. I believe this was overdubbed in the same style as Spoof of the Living Dead. So the voices are kind of kooky lame but they seem to grow on you.

ZOMBIE AFTERMATH
(aka Aftermath)
Two astronauts return to earth to find that it has been destroyed by nuclear war. Most of the population has been turned into zombie mutants. And those who have survived are at the mercy of Cutter and his gang of outlaw bikers.

ZOMBIE ARMY - 1991
When the Army takes over a former asylum, they discover that some inmates are still living in solitary confinement there, and become murderous zombies.
Comments: this movie mostly is about soldiers getting killed, then turned into zombies, then they kill more soldiers, and they turn them into more into zombies, and on and on. It is true to the zombie style but just badly done. Worth owning, but perhaps not worth watching at all.

ZOMBIE BLOODBATH - 1993
Another Todd Sheets movie about a town turned into zombies due to nuclear melt down. A couple families join together to try to survive, but like the whole town is zombies so what are they going to do? And they better get out of town soon because the zombie plague is spreading and spreading and spreading.
Comments: Features a dude with one hell of a great mullet. Todd SHeets zombie films rule.

ZOMBIE BLOODBATH 2: RAGE OF THE UNDEAD - 1995
The Zombie Bloodbath sequel does not continue where the other one leaves off, unfortunately. But it is just as great as the original, if not better. Tons of zombies rampaging a small town and eating flesh.
Comments: Indie gore rules!

ZOMBIE BLOODBATH 3: ZOMBIE ARMAGEDDON - 2000
This film is probably the best of the Zombie Bloodbath trilogy. It is about zombies from the future that have been accidentally sent back in time to end up underneath a high school. They are uncovered by students and unleashed into the school. Can the students survive the flesh-eating zombies?
Comments: a must-have.

ZOMBIE BRIGADE - 1986
When an amusement park is built on the grounds of an old cemetery, the dead rise to take revenge.

ZOMBIE CHILD - 1977
(aka Kill and Go Hide)
A newly-hired housekeeper in a remote area is alarmed to discover that her boss's eleven-year- old daughter is using her supernatural powers to take revenge on the people she holds responsible for her mother's death, with the aid of her flesh-eating zombie 'friends'...
The atmosphere in this film is very eerie and gripping, perhaps artistic. I love this movie. Not the best, but definitely worth having in your collection.

ZOMBIE CHRONICLES - 2001
This low budget horror zombie movie is entertaining, in it several young people get killed in different ways by zombies.
Comments: the acting is ok, the effects good...Seems to be shot on a cheap camera, but nonetheless this still pretty ok for its budget..

ZOMBIE COP - 1991
During a drug raid, a narcotics officer confronts a strange Voodoo priest named Dr. Death, who is chanting. The officer and the priest shoot it out and they both wind up dead. Later, the two rise from their graves and return to the land of the living as zombies. Dr. Death is resurrected with a new mission in mind, to take over the world. It is a dark day of suffering and bloodshed when these strange events reach their apocalyptic climax.
Comments: recommended!

ZOMBIE DOOM - 1999
(aka Violent Shit 3: Infantry of Doom) The Meister and tyrannical leader of an infernal and barbaric legion of metal-masked madmen called the Infantry of Doom, Karl has been biding his time for world domination. But now the notorious Dr. Senius has mastered Karl's demonic plans of creating an army of deranged, zombified creatures - and mankind will soon tremble in flesh-quivering fear! As these monsters are set loose to hunt down and eliminate any unfortunate intruders, misfits and traitors, three shipwreck victims must battle to stay alive - and in one piece - while avenging ninjas seek out to destroy Karl and his army of mindless killers. All shall pay in the most gruesome, painful and horrific ways, especially those condemned and punished by The Meister personally. Survival is not an option!
Comments: well, if you consider this a zombie movie it sucks because there are only a few zombies and they die in like 5 seconds, but the gore makes this film legendary. A must see.

ZOMBIE GENOCIDE
After a camping trip, a group of teenagers return home to find their town has been taken over by the living dead.
Comments: super low budget UK film that is one of the best out there. Check it out.

ZOMBIE HIGH - 1987
A woman (Madsen) goes to previously all-male boarding school on a scholarship. She begins to separate herself from her boyfriend in order to devote more time to her new environment. Over a course of time she notices that more and more students have lost their individuality, and approach their activities in a lifeless and automatic manner. Eventually a diabolical plot fostered by the faculty begins to emerge.
Comments: they aren't really zombies though ...

ZOMBIE HOLOCAUST - 1979
(aka Dr. Butcher MD)
A mad scientist lives at an molukk island inhabited by cannibals. He experiments with corpses which he reanimates to zombies. The members of an expidition landing on that island are soon hunted by cannibals and zombies.
Cannibals, zombies, and a mad scientist: all of the stereotypes of Italian horror brought together in one film. Joy!

ZOMBIE ISLAND MASSACRE - 1984
Americans on vacation in the Caribbean take a tour of a nearby island at night and watch a local voodoo ritual. Soon after, they find themselves stranded on the island and under attack by unseen foes. One by one they meet violent ends.
Comments: they aren't really zombies! Those jerks!

ZOMBIE LAKE - 1980
In a small village, somewhere in France, dead German soldiers, killed and thrown into the lake by the Resistance during WW II, come back.
Comments: most of the movie features women swimming naked with many underwater crotch shots. Not as good as Oasis of the Dead unless you are watching for the nudity.

THE ZOMBIES OF MORA TOA - 1957
Zombiefied sailors guard the treasure of a ship they went down with 60 years earlier. A group of sailors scoff at the legend, and decide to retrieve the diamonds from the ocean floor only to discover the hard way that there is some truth to legends.
Comments: old zombie movies are funny.

ZOMBIE NIGHTMARE - 1986
Tony Washington is killed by a gang of rampant trendy teenagers. Molly Mokembe is a voodoo lady who brings him back from the dead to seek revenge on his killers so he can rest in peace.
Comments: I still want the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version of this movie. I will trade any of my movies for a copy of that.

ZOMBIE NINJA GANGBANGERS - 1997
(aka Bangers)
This is one cheap looking movie! A stripper keeps getting attacked and raped by zombies and no one believes her. She goes to the police who also rape her. She finally finds a kid who was also attacked by the zombies and they trace the zombies back to 'The Zombie Master'. The fact that Stephanie Beaton stars as the stripper is the only reason to watch this film.
Comments: for serious zombie fanatics only.

ZOMBIES ON BROADWAY - 1945
Two inept press agents are ordered to the island of St. Sebastian to get a zombie for an opening night publicity stunt of a nightclub. They find a likely source in Dr. Paul Renault, who has spent much time studying (and experimenting) on the subject. But Renault has other ideas.
Comments: the worst of all old zombie movies. Check it out.

ZOMBIE RAMPAGE - 1989
A low budget movie about zombies rising from the grave and eating a bunch of white gangsters Night of the Living Dead style (trapped in a building and dying one by one).
Comments: Created by Todd Sheets (Zombie Bloodbath series) who really knows how to make a zombie film.

ZOMBIE TOXIN
A mixed-up plot that is hard to follow but I guess it is about zombies, Hitler, and flying killer bottles. It does have some zombies in it, but this is a hard movie to watch.
Comments: I love British comedy, but The Young Ones this is not. Check it out though.

ZOMBIE! VS. MARDI GRAS - 1999
Confusing plot and half-assed humor are two common faults in super low budget movies. This is one of those movies. It is about a child who raises a zombie to kill the people of Mardi Gras. Eventually Mardi Gras becomes full of rampaging zombies, but you have to suffer through many pointless scenes first.
Comments: recommended? of course!
