Review: Love Actually

Grade: B+

Richard Curtis, AKA the King of Romantic Comedies (writer of such rom-com hits as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, and Bridget Jones’s Diary) takes his first stab at directing a romantic comedy, and while its no BJD, it is most certainly a heart-warming movie for the Christmas season. Love Actually is not one story, but a collection of small love stories, which all take a different approach to the dicey topic. I really did enjoy this approach to the romantic comedy genre, but I think some of the slighter stories could have been disposed of in favor of more time with some of the more successful short love stories in the film. Despite this though, fantastic acting and some very hilarious dialogue help make this a real winner. Only people with truly black hearts will manage to not get warm fuzzies all over during this flick.
