1000 words is a
rusted-crush production.

a thousand words

Why do you call the site "a thousand words"?
Since it's a graphics site, I took the name from the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words."

Where is the "fanart" mentioned on the main page?
At the moment it's here - but I plan to add more. (This site is far from finished!)

Where did you find these pictures?
I've had some of these pictures for a long time, and I've forgotten where I originally found many of them. I list the sources that I remember on the links page.

May I use these pictures?
I do not own these pictures, so I cannot really give you permission. If you want to use them on your personal, non-profit website - as I have - be sure to include a disclaimer.

What kind of disclaimer?
You can view the one I use here. It basically tells your site's visitors (and the photograph's copyright holder), "I own nothing here: please don't sue."

Why is this site on a free website host? Don't you have your own domain?
Actually, I have four domains but I prefer not to store too many pictures there. For one thing, pictures eat up server space and bandwidth, and that's not good. However, the main reason this site is where it is: unscrupulous 'tards will direct link to pictures unless you make it so they can't.

Why is direct linking so bad?
Basically, someone is stealing bandwidth, or data transfer, from someone else's website. Most hosting companies give each hostee a certain amount of transfer per month, so if a couple of people direct linked to a few large pictures, a website owner could wind up paying because they've used more than their share of bandwidth. And people aren't even visiting their website!
