My parents had plans to go see “Signs” one Saturday evening, and I knew that no matter what I decided to see, I had to see something. I rarely get to go to the movies. I thought about what was playing, and I didn’t have much time to think. I narrowed my choices down to “Signs” and “Goldmember”. I asked my friend who had seen both what he thought I should see. He told me “Signs” was obviously better, but “Goldmember” had a “Two Towers” trailer. If you know me well enough, you know what happened. And I ALMOST entirely regret it, if it hadn’t been for the “Two Towers” trailer.

I think Greg Filce pretty much summed up Goldmember. It was disgusting, jokes were overused, etc. However, I can’t make any comparison to the second Austin Powers film, I didn’t see all of it. However, One thing Greg failed to mention was the BLATANT advertising. Austin drinks a Heineken with the label facing the camera on a close-up, he drinks an Aquafina with the label facing the camera, they open the fridge to find dozens of cans of Pepsi Twist and Diet Pepsi Twist, with all the label sides facing the camera, and Britney Spears is shown drinking a Pepsi. My, how the lows keep lowering. In fact, I’d give this *** if it didn’t have the advertising, because when it didn’t suck, it was funny. That may sound a bit weird, but it’s true.

As always, the one thing keeping the movie together was Mike Myers, portraying several roles as always. One name that I was surprised to see was Fred Savage as “Number Three”. Still, I think the first one was the best among 1, 3, and the portions of 2 I have seen.
