When we were faced with the monumental task of raising the over $2 million amount needed to completely restore and renovate the old Lane Theater to turn it into the finest stage and movie venue in this part of Southeastern Kentucky, we knew that one person, in particular, would do everything in his power to help us. Congressman Hal Rogers has brought million of dollars into the 5th district--a good deal of it here in Whitley County to help build our new airport, the Corbin technology and civic center and numerous other facilities to provide education, economic development and tourism venues to our area. We have already petitioned for Congressman Rogers help.

We also need to raise money from the local community to pay off the $50,000 mortgage and continue operations as we have them so far. No one in the Action Team is paid for their work. We contribute our time and labor voluntarily. But water, electric, gas and phone bills are not free!

You can help:

  • Consider “Adopting A Seat” for $100. So far 50 individuals, churches and organizations have done so to bring our total raised to $5,000. We have 450 seats still waiting for someone to “Adopt them”
  • For a $10.00 donation you can have the name of a family member or loved one on the marquee for a birthday or special event.
  • Right now we are raffling off autographed collector’s items UK basketballs and a football. Call our office 549-1151 to find out how to get your raffle tickets. Better yet, volunteer to take the balls to your work place and sell chances there!
  • On May 29th during our First Annual Williamsburg Roots Festival we will be sponsoring a riding Lawnmower race around the town square. Join the fun, clean-up, tune-up your rider and join the fun. The entry fee will benefit the Lane. If you live out of the area, come back for this “Homecoming Event” : Celebrate our Heritage and have lots of fun to benefit the Lane restoration.
  • Ask any public officials, city council members, fiscal court members and tourism commission members to support us as much as possible. If you have any contact with Congressman Rogers, put in a good word for us.
  • Remember the Lane in your annual giving or in your will!!
  • Tell church members, friends and co-workers about this website and get their support

Any donation from $1.00 to a million is needed. Please find a way to help us begin the revitalization of Williamsburg’s Historic downtown.
