AIRING THIS WEEK ON GLOBAL BC Trail man spends Christmas in the cold and without his `medicine' TMTV/BCTV Kootenays for Global BC -TRAIL, B.C.Dec 30- A 52-year-old Trail man says he spent Christmas in the cold and without his `medicine' because the RCMP raided his home and shut off the power. Busted just before Christmas, Trail homeowners Peter and Denise Roglich lost their power after police seized about 200 marijuana plants. He and his wife have federal licenses to grow 25 plants each of medical marijuana. Peter Roglich changed the electrical system to bring in enough power to grow the plants, he confirmed to the Record this week. When police called in Fortis to the house at 1934 Wilmes Lane, they may have found more electrical safety issues than the owners knew about. "Hydro [Fortis] snipped the lines," says Peter Roglich. "They took out the meter, and wouldnt put it [the power] back until [there was] a new meter. "A statement in the Trail Times on December 28th that "The RCMP ... took the hydro meter out," is not correct, say both the homeowner and the police. Roglich and his wife, in their 50s, were "ten days or so" without power before an electrician was able to bring the electrical service up to code and before Fortis hooked up the power again. The experience was traumatic for the Rogliches. "Ive got everything up for sale, Im leaving," Peter said Tuesday. "Theyve taken away my happiness. I dont want to stay here anymore."

CPR coal train derails near Cranbrook
TMTV/BCTV Kootenays
(CBC) - Sept 29--A Canadian Pacific Railways coal train derailed Friday morning in a remote area along the Kootenay River near Cranbrook.
Sixteen cars of the 115-car westbound train jumped the tracks east of Fort Steele.
CPR spokesman Ed Greenburg said part of the train's load spilled near the river.
"We have one car that has spilled some of its contents onto the edge of the river that runs along side the track," he said.
Cleanup crews and environmental experts are at the site assessing the damage.
Greenburg says the rail line remains closed and trains are being re-routed through Cranbrook.
There were no injuries and the cause of the accident isn't known.

TMTV/BCTV Kootenays Aug 24 - POLICE CRACKDOWN: Controversial businessmen are trying to have restrictive conditions lifted so that they can carry out more normal life; prepared to argue freedom of religion.
Owners Paul DeFelice, arrested July 15, and Middlemiss, was arrested August 16. Both men were charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance dating back to June 2 and July 13 respectively. The co-owners of the Holy Smoke Culture Shop were each given a separate set of conditions that they hope to have varied in court.
On July 15 Nelson City Police raided the Holy Smoke as part of its ongoing investigation into the city's alleged drug trade which focussed on three establishments and "dial-a-dopers" - people who use cell phones to allegedly sell drugs.
During its search, police say they seized a pound and a half of marijuana - what police Sgt. Steve Bank called a "fairly large quantity" - between $8,000 and $9,000 in cash and documents related to the operation of the store.ANOTHER DROWNING IN NELSON

Mike Nesbitt Photo
TMTV/BCTV Kootenays - July 24 -If there was going to be any fires this weekend the forest service and local fire departments were glad it was not on shore. This boat caught fire around 10:00PM Sunday night 6 miles north of Nelson on Kootenay Lake. The lone occupant was not injured in the mishap but the boat was completely destroyed. CLOSE CALL FOR NELSON RESIDENCE
Nelson BC TMTV/BCTV Kootenays - Sept 12, -A fire in the Fairview area of Nelson BC was quickly contained this afternoon.
The fire which was the size of a city block and was very visible from all areas of Nelson started on a trail just above View Street. Three helicopters with water buckets doused the fire and stopped it from spreading to nearby houses. The fire was mopped up by the Nelson City Fire Department and BC Forest Service crews. It is believed to have been started by the careless use of smoking materials.
The public is reminded that the forests are still very dry but cooler weather and rain is expected over the next few days which will help forestry crews get the upper handle on the Duhamel Creek fire which is currently burning in our area.
