My life began in Loma Linda, California, in late February, 1981. My mother is originally
from Zaire,
the daughter of missionaries, whereas my father was an average American man,
with not so quite an adventurous background as my mother's.
The few memories that still exist from
those early years include my brothers giving me
Monopoly money to go buy ice cream, then laughing when I came back crying, empty-handed.
Or the time when my brother decided to teach me to ride my bike on bleachers at the ballfield
across the street...I still have a bump and scar on my forehead where I cracked it open.
Ahhh...the memories.
When I was five, my family moved to Beavercreek, OR, and over the course of the next
few years, we moved to Sandy,Portland, then to several places in Vancouver.
In total, I've moved 11 times in 23 years of life and I'm very good at it, being able to
move myself anywhere in 2 1/2 car loads.
In 1999, I graduated from Portland Adventist Academy, and the five years since then
have been a crazy mix of real-world experience, unbelievable opportunities,
and some very rough times.
I'll pickup with the Summer of 1999.
