Right on the eve of G-Unit's release, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson is being sued for $21 million by a New York Post photographer for allegedly being assaulted by members of his entourage this summer.
The assault reportedly took place on August 27 when the photographer, Jim Alcorn was taking photos of 50 as he was leaving Jacob the Jeweler's Manhattan boutique where he had purchased an $18,000 watch. Alcorn was rushed to the emergency room and suffered injuries to his neck and jaw.
"I am bringing this lawsuit because what happened to me was wrong. No photographer should have what happened to me happen to them," Alcorn told the Post. As a result of the injuries I received, I was unable to work for nearly eight weeks. I respectfully request the officials of the New York City police department and the district attorney's office to complete their criminal investigation. I ask for justice."
Calls to 50's representatives were not returned. While the suit, filed in Queens Supreme Court cites 50, Interscope Records, Shady/Aftermath and Jackson's seven unidentified bodyguards, investigators might have a lead in identifying 50's squad. Apparently, Alcorn has captured some of 50's entourage by continuing to snap shots even after being knocked to the ground.
"There's a spectacular shot of both the security guard and 50 Cent looming over Jim," Sanford Rubenstein, Alcorn's attorney told the Post. "There's no question from the photograph that the security guard is identifiable. We're waiting for the police to ascertain his identity."
A spokesperson for the NYPD said the case was not under investigation and that Alcorn's lack of injuries might reduce the incident to a civil case.
"If only 50 Cent had said sorry," Alcorn told the Post. "They just stood over me laughing instead of helping me up, they pulled me away from the car and dropped me in the street again. Then they took off."
