Henrietta in New York Once again we tell a story of Henrietta Hippo, but this time she is in New York visiting her sick grandmother. Henrietta decided that she would go to the flower shop to buy some potted flowers for her grandmother to help her feel well. Henrietta pulled her truck over to the flower shop and went inside. When she walked in she noticed that there was a special on flowers. You receive one brownie for each plant that you buy. Henrietta bought ten plants. She paid the cashier and collected her brownies. She put the plants in the bed of her truck and drove off to the hospital, munching on a brownie. Once she arrived, Henrietta grabbed her plants (and brownies) and hopped onto the elevator. Henrietta pushed the number for the top floor (that's where her grandmother was) and the doors shut. After moving upward, for about three floors, the elevator immediately halted to a stop! "Oh NO!" exclaimed Henrietta. She was extremely worried that something could be seriously wrong, but Henrietta kept an optimistic mind about her and thought that it was only a matter of seconds before the elevator would start up again. It didn't. Henrietta screamed. Henrietta noticed that there is an emergency button and frantically pushed the button with no relief. Then, on top of her already grief stricken situation, the lights went out. Henrietta screamed, again, and she was worried about her food. She had only one-half of a brownie left! But Henrietta remembered her incident with the basement and she knew that she could manage, for a while. After popping the last bit of brownie into her mouth she remembered something. Her oxygen! She quickly stuffed her face into the plants and took deep breaths, hoping to get some air. When she did this she noticed that there was an air vent right above her head. "Maybe," Henrietta thought, "I could climb out of that vent!" Henrietta looked at her watch and realized that she had been in there for an hour and a half. "Why hasn't anyone come to rescue me?" Henrietta wondered. Henrietta decided that she would wait a little bit longer and if no one came soon, she would climb out. Henrietta waited a little while with no luck. She was getting hungry and her brownies had been gone for quite some time. "I have to climb out!" Henrietta told herself. She popped open the vent easily. Then she put her plants through the vent. Henrietta hoisted herself up and barely squeezed herself through the vent. "Boy! Am I beat!" Henrietta exclaimed to herself. It was tough getting out of that elevator. Henrietta sat for a half an hour to collect her thoughts and her plants. She looked around and saw a door. It wasn't parallel to the elevator's roof but she could make it. Henrietta stood up and yawned. It had been a hard day! She grabbed her plants and started to walk over to the door. Suddenly the place where she had been walking started to creek and bend. Henrietta ran toward the door and leaped up to the door's ledge. Henrietta looked back and saw that where she had walked that there were big dents. The elevator's top hadn't been strong enough to support her. Now she was safe. "Well here I go!" Henrietta said and opened the door and walked out. She noticed that this was the 5th floor of the hospital and she was standing right in front of her grandmother's room. Henrietta rushed into her grandmother's room, happy that she had overcome another ordeal "Well hi!" Exclaimed Grandma Hippo. "I am feeling much better today. Did you bring me all of those beautiful plants!?" Grandma Hippo asked with glee. "I am so happy that you came to see me!" "But before I tell you anything else," Henrietta said, "let me tell you a story of what happened to me today!" Henrietta told her grandmother the story of what happened. They both exchanged other stories and before Henrietta knew it, it was time to leave. They both exchanged farewells, hugs and kisses; and Henrietta left. Once she got to the lobby (she used the stairs) she saw the elevator that she had used. There was a sign on it saying out of service. Henrietta was in such a hurry that she didn't even see the sign before she got onto the elevator. Well at least she had gotten out. When Henrietta got home, she took a shower and went to bed. "Boy, this had been quite a day!" Henrietta exclaimed. And with that in mind, Henrietta fell fast asleep.
