The Princess Bride is a book worth reading. It was romantic, inteligent, well written, has fencing, fighting, romance, giants, spaniards, Sicilians, and royalty.
The Princess Bride is about a girl, Buttercup, and her family who have a farmboy, Wesley, working for them. Wesley and Buttercup fall in love, however Wesley does not have enough money for a wedding, so he goes to america to find his fortune. His ship that he is traveling on, gets captured by the Dread Pirate Roberts. Wesley is taken, and killed.
When the news gets back to Buttercup, she is heart broken. She says later on that she died that day.
A few years later, she is engaged to prince, Prince Humperdink. Buttercup gets kidnapped by a giant, Fezzik, a spaniard, Inigo, and a Sicilian named Vizzini. They travel to a large cliff where Fezzik carries them all up on a rope. All this time they are being followed by the man in black, a.k.a. the Dread Pirate Roberts.
When Fezzik takes them all up to the top of the cliff, Vizzini takes Fezzik and Buttercup with him and leaves Inigo to kill the man in black. Then they dule! The man in black and Inigo have a sword fight. They fight all over the rocks and then the man in black knocks out Inigo and goes off to find Buttercup, Vizzini, and Fezzik.
While the man in black is fighting Inigo, Vizzini has Fezzik hide behind a boulder and wait for the man in black. When the man in black comes around the rocks where Fezzik is they fight, and agian the man in black wins but does not kill Fezzik. He runs off to find Vizzini and Buttercup.
The man in black finds them and as he steps toward them Vizzini threatens to kill Buttercup if he takes another step toward forward. The man in black offers Vizzini to have a battle of wits, for everyone knows that secilians are extremely smart. Vizzini accepts and the man in black kils him. Buttercup and the man in black start to run because they are being chased by Buttercup fiance whome she does not love, Prince Humperdink.
The man in black reveles he is really Wesley, her true love and they run off togethor into the fire swamp to escape Humperdink. Wesley gets bitten by a R.O.U.S., or rodents of unusual size and they surrender so that Wesley will not be killed.
However Prince Humperdink lies to Buttercup tries to kill him anyway. He does not kill him, Fezzik and Inigo comeback to save him because Inigo needs him to help him find the six fingered man who killed his father. Fezzik and Inigo take Wesley to Miracle Max, a miracle man who used to work for te king before Humperdink fired him.
Miracle Max gives them a pill to give him that will wake him up. Then when he wakes up, they storm the castle and get Buttercup, threaten the prince, steal four white horses, and kiss under the sunset.
