Gary Sinise has only recently started to get the recognition he deserves ~ from Hollywood, at least.  Gary was born on March 17, 1955 in Blue Island, Illinois.

He began performing as a musician playing in garage rock bands.  Soon, he discovered his passion for the theatre as a teenager in high school and at the age of 18, he co-founded the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago. He has been a successful stage actor and director for most of his career.

Two of his best-known stage performances are True West and The Grapes of Wrath.

For a couple of years, I would have to say the name "Lieutenant Dan" from Forrest Gump for anyone to know who I was speaking of.  It was from this Academy Award nominated role that I discovered who Gary was.

I would need a whole separate page to list all of the other nominations and awards that he has been honored with.

Now, after such films as Ransom, Apollo 13, Snake Eyes, and Mission To Mars, Gary is becoming a more recognized actor.

I was fortunate to be able to see his new independent film All The Rage (re-titled It's The Rage) at the Toronto Film Festival in 1999, where he finally was given the opportunity to perform comedy on the big screen.

Gary has been married since 1981 to actress and fellow Steppenwolf member Moira Harris and the couple have three children.
