WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH

by Adrienne

Forgive me, Katrina, but you've changed
Beyond the utmost shadow of a doubt
From she with whom my heart I'd have exchanged
Into a girl I know nothing about.
True, Brom, of late, I have not been myself
And though I never meant to wish you ill,
Restlessness has since instilled itself
Within my soul and quickened its strong will.

This freedom in you, I cannot deny,
Has time and time again given me grief.
At last, I wonder why so oft I try
To gain your favor- Brom, I shall be brief.
Friend of my childhood, friend you will remain
Lest my love's misplaced all over again.
