Ave Katrina

by Adrienne

Sing me the silence I once used to know,
The elegies that I cannot remember
From childhood days: a fireplace aglow
And strange markings written with an ember.
Though winking sparks leap, though knowing flames dance,
My recollections blur in haunted dreams
Of sky-blue petals whose seeds sow mischance
For a lady whose glance with sorrow gleams.
Give me today, tomorrow, forever
To learn the lessons hidden in my sleep.
If from these some malice should I sever,
May love come before I'm drowned too deep.
Oh, that these ramblings were not wishıd in vain;
Oh, that her sweet kiss might bless me again!
