OutOfBrazil.com brings you primitive
pottery that is created from clay gathered from the banks of the
Amazon River by the Marajoara artists. These artifacts have been
produced the same traditional way for hundreds of years.
Today's potters follow traditions
laid down by Indian cultures that existed in the Amazon region well
before the arrival of the Portuguese in the 16th century.
At least four of these cultures
are noteworthy for their ceramics: on the vast island of Marajó
in the mouth of the Amazon River potters melded vases that were
later decorated with labyrinthine patterns.
OutofBrazil.com Also brings you
other artifacts directly from the locals. Items vary from wooden
toys and jewlery boxes to Hand made hammocks used by the natives.
