80 Feet Tall - DPW 2003

For the past two seasons of my four season run with the Black Rock City DPW, I've worked as one of the aerial boom-lift operators. The lifts are used for a number of jobs, including the building of the cafe, the Man and his tower, and to provide support in the construction of some of the larger (read=taller) art pieces on the playa.

I initially took these photos to document these experiences for the DPW budgeting people. However, I decided later on that these photos would be an interesting way to share this unique view of the playa with participants and fellow staff members, who sometimes aren't able to get out and see in-progress views of the things we work on for the citizens of Black Rock City.
Please enjoy my brief photo essay, and I'll see you all next year!
