THIS IS ONLY A GUIDE. PLEASE CONTACT US ABOUT YOUR PROJECT TO DETERMINE WHAT WE CAN DO AND WHAT THE COST WOULD BE.
What type of photographic restoration do you do?
Tears and scratches repaired
Faded photographs can be vitalized
Lighting and shadows improved
What type of photographic manipulation do you do?
Black & white photos can be colorized or reproduced in sepia
Color photos can be converted to black and white or sepia
Backgrounds can be altered or changed. (That telephone pole sprouting from Uncle George’s head can be removed or the house behind Grandma can be turned into the beach.)
Photographs can be combined into a collage or in some cases Uncle Bob can be added or removed from the photo.
Slides can be turned into prints.
Digital files can be made for delivery to commercial printers 4 color ready.
What type of work do you not do?
We are unable to scan a picture larger than 81/2" X 14" and normally don’t produce prints larger than 8" X 10". See below.
All work and manipulations must be tasteful.
What type of equipment do you use and how do you print your work?
We have a personal computer equipped with several software programs of which Paint Shop Pro is the most used. An HP scanner model 4P is used and most photos are scanned at 300 DPI but can be scanned up to 1200 DPI. Photographs are printed using an HP inkjet photo printer on Kodak or similar quality photo paper. The prints are sprayed with a fixative to waterproof them. The work is done digitally and so no negative is produced.
The size of the finished print can be up to 8"X10" but quality will depend on the original being worked from. We can outsource printing larger sized prints or the production of a negative if you desire. We do not recommend the larger prints in most instances because quality deteriorates as prints get larger.
What type of graphic design work do you do?
Simple stuff. We can work with you to develop brochures and posters that can be photocopied or printed at places such as Staples. We can include and have available thousands of photographs and other graphics and fonts as you need them.
What is the cost?
We call it Value Pricing because . . . We will discuss your project with you and establish a maximum price before we start. This is really a hobby more than a business so our main objectives are to help you out while having fun and at the same time not being out of pocket for expenses. Our minimum charge is $25.00 and all work is done on an hourly basis so prices could sometimes be less than quoted.
What is your Guarantee?
If you like the work performed for you, pay the agreed upon price for it. If you don’t like the work we perform for you - we will discuss your concerns and redo the work or refund your payment.
What are your qualifications?
We are not professional nor do we have any special training. We simply enjoy working with graphics and photographs on our computer and have become pretty good at it. Normally having significant changes made to photos is expensive because it is very time consuming and commercial photographers and developers charge significant fees for this type of work. Because we enjoy doing it and consider it fun, we are willing to do it at very reasonable prices. Remember our guarantee. If you like it you pay for it. If you don’t like the work we perform for you - we will redo it or refund your payment.
