Pirates of the Caribbean Review
Seeing this movie on the big screen was a fantastic sight. It wasn’t just eye candy, but it was funny, romantic, adventurous…and should I say wild? Those Pirates are pretty freaky looking but over all, I thought it was pretty cool.
The movie starts out with little young Elizabeth Swann singing on a ship. Its foggy and cold. There are a few sailors aboard, muttering things. Her father and the commodore stand not too far away. She soon spots a boy lying across a panel of wood floating in the water. When they bring him aboard she finds a “Pirate Medallion” on a string around the boy’s neck. Very interested in pirates, she takes it.
Later on in the film when Elizabeth (Keira Knightly) still has the pirate gold piece in her possession, the cursed pirates come and attack her home town. They seek the medallion piece, for it is the only way to break the curse. So, Swann is taken away to the Black Pearl, the ship that the cursed pirates sail, but it’s the long lost ship of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). As Sparrow is searching for his ship, and also trying to stay out of trouble, he bumps into Will Turner(Orlando Bloom, the hot, young, dashing man that most girls drool over) which has fallen in love Miss Swann. After a few fights and rambles, they make a deal to go hunt for Elizabeth and Jack could get his ship back.
Will Turner is a black smith living peacefully…making swords, what else? Practicing 3 hours a day, he still has time for Elizabeth. His life changes once he starts the search. He discovers things both bad and good in his opinion. But he can be one lousy pirate. With words and explaining things, as well as understanding things, I should say. Orlando was perfect for playing Wil. Seriously, he has the good looks, acting skills, and a way with the swords. And I should mention bows since he was the hot elf in The Lord of the Rings movies. I wonder how many more “Sword action” movies Orlando will be in. Hmmm…
Cap’n Jack Sparrow, one crazy pirate looking for a ship is the best definition. You can never tell what side he is on, until the end, and look at the way he’s dressed. He carries a lousy sword and a compass that doesn’t point north. Oh and a shot gun with one bullet. Now to the good stuff, he is funny and wild. He can always escape an island in the middle of nowhere. Hmm three or four times actually. Johnny Depp was perfect for this character. I can see now why so many girls drool all over him…He has good looks and has a good sense of humor. I cant remember any names of the other movies he was in but I remember watching some. He is a great actor.
Elizabeth, a spunky young woman who can’t breath in corsets and falls in love with the dashing young Will Turner. She has the pirate gold piece and is captured but still has a strong will. Its amazing to see this fancy British woman in dresses firing guns, whacking people over the head and jumping of a plank. Keira, a young 18 year old that was in the movie Bend it like Beckham, is on the verge of becoming a (hot) movie star. The way she acts and the way she was dressed in the movie, I know that some guys would go crazy…She is quite the action girl. She got some “man muscles”, as she calls them. I don’t know too much about her but she was very good at playing Elizabeth.
I could go on and on explain the movie, but I don’t want to give everything away. Pirates of the Caribbean is in theaters now. Go watch it and…prepare to be blown outta the water ye Matties!! *Sings* Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me…
