Best Screenplay
The screenplay of a film can easily be named the most important thing to make a film great. If you don't have a good screenplay, it is hard to overcome the faults of it with direction and acting. Screenplays need to be carefully though of and made and thats why they are a important part of the filmmaking process... Here are the nominees for Best Screenplay:
21 Grams
The maze of a screenplay in 21 GRams is some of the best I have seen. When you havt to put your brain into a film and actually break it down, then you have quite an interesting screenplay in your hands. This film certainly had a great one with plenty of originality.
In America
An independent film like In America doesn't come very often. It is an extremely powerful film packed with so many true facts that it is almost unbelievable. Disturbing to watch and realize the truth, the screenplay of In America is simply brilliant.
Kill Bill: Vol. 1
Along with the great direction in Kill Bill comes a great script. Tarantino delivers the good once again with this film and it certainly is a very interestinf film that cannot be categorized in any genre. On the screenplay alone it excels in dialogue and dark crude humor.
The Last Samurai
Slick and paced very well are only a few words to describe this film. The war was planned solidly and location are very creative. What is not to like about the japanese locations, simply beautiful.
Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King
In the third adaptation the screenplay is nothing less then magnificent. Ending it with a strong punch and giving each character plenty of screentime is definetely the way to go for Return Of The King.
Lost In Translation
Such creativity is used here. The screenplay for Lost In TRanslation features plenty of the best dialogue in a film ever and it uses facial expressions and many other representations to make the film work. How more genius can someone get?
Matchstick Men
A very clever screenplay to boot is present in this film. Matchstick Men is one of the best con movies, if not the best. Nicholas Cage was the perfect actor to play this character and the screenplay was though of great on how slick and far it can go without getting caught.
Monster
So many faults going on in this film and by faults I mean such as prostitution and killing. What didn't have any faults was this wonderfully creafted screenplay. Monster hands us the truth of the world on a platter and expects us to eat it up. I had a big appetite.
Mystic River
This screenplay has powerful dialogue and that is where it truly exceeds. Get the right actors and actresses to play the roles and you have a good film. Mystic River did just that.
Thirteen
Many teenagers can easily relate to this and to just experience it on film is truly a once in a lifetime experience. This film has a strong screenplay and features the side of teens when they feel like breaking from their shell. Sometimes they can take the right route, but when they take the bad route, its a terrible and disturbing place.
